Some of you may recall this thread from not to long ago - http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,77824.0.html

- just thought I'd let you know that I made it!  Well, I made it here at least, have not made the return flight home yet.   :-\

Anyone care to take a guess as to where I made it to?

This shot is from my room on the 30th floor.  Sorry but there are not too many clues here.  If it's tough, I can post some more pics but that will be later today/tonight or maybe even tomorrow.  I am heading out for lunch, do some shopping and then to tour a few of the bars that I have mapped out around the city.

Winner gets a free -

Have a great afternoon everyone!

Shakey

BTW - sorry about the size of the photo.   :eek2:

I know it's a PITA to scroll and read but a smaller photo would not do this skyline any justice.  A matter of fact, there was much of it that did not get into the photo as I don't have a panoramic lens.

I don't think I really have any guesses, just contributing to guesses-

First, I agree that this looks international (ie, not U.S.).
With that in mind, it likely is a city with an international airport.
topographically flat, at least in this direction.
He's going to lunch, post time is just before 10AM.  He says "good afternoon".  So, he's in a time zone 3-6 hours later than the time stamp on posts here.  So, east of the U.S, but not far - probably this side of the atlantic.

Given that you can only go 1-2 hours east in the U.S., that's another vote for non-US.  And given that europe is 5-6 hours east, that's probably too late.

There's some chance it could go to far northwestern Africa, but I'm not familiar with a northwestern african city that would be quite so packed with skyscrapers.

So with all that, I'm guessing Brazil.

If it helps identify, the view seems to be northward (based on assumptions stacked on assumptions, if the pic is afternoon, the sun is in the west, direction of the shadows, etc)

A lot of the airports in brazil seem to be on coastal cities.  No ocean visible from the pics, but it looks like there's a lot of buildings on the north notheast of the pic..  Since a lot of coastal cities pack the skyline against the coast, let's take another leap of guessitude and say the beach is northeast.

So just one more leap of guessing, maybe it's rio grande do norte?

(pic from another direction: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vHfhEO08cCE/SJs95UKly3I/AAAAAAAAIy8/0NuNdhFL4e0/s400/NATAL+-+RIO+GRANDE+DO+NORTE.jpg )

06Daytona

Wherever he is the bars have great hours. He's been out drinking  for 2 days. It does look a little like San Juan PR, but I don't know if there are that many skyscrapers. If it is I'll be there tomorrow or Sunday to pick up my 72

Hiya Guys - sorry for the delayed response!  I am back in Canada now - got home this morning at around 6:00 and obviously the plane did not crash!   :2thumbs:

On Thursday my self guided tour of the city took me into the wee hours of the morning and then on Friday when I got up late, I had to meet my customer for lunch but prior to that I had some mails to answer and a suitcase to pack for the flight that night.  No time to come back and update you folks.

Paul you were in the zone with your South America guess - please explain "hot climate roofs".

I see Dodge Don got it right but his vote doesn't count 'cause he knew I was going as I had asked him about his visit to Brazil last year.  He told me about his trip to Rio with the Board of Directors and the bodyguards that shadowed them during their visit.  I was not so fortunate as I was alone for the better part of my trip.

Defiance - I like your style - definitely an A for effort!

Mike - I think you, Paul and Defiance should each get one of these -

Don - you got yours via my e-mail from the Hotel Unique Skye Bar the other night.  Also brought home a couple bottles of Leblon to make Caipirinhas -  :drool5:

And Bob - I love the photo!  Carnival takes place in a couple of weeks in different cities across the country.  Would have liked to plan my trip around that however that would have raised a few too many red flags around the office!   :eek2:

So - I was in Brazil on business as my job requires travel, mostly through North America, however every once in a while I'll end up in Europe and was fortunate enough to see South Africa last year.  I certainly enjoy the opportunity to see other parts of the world and seeing how others live.  For the most part, it's all the same wherever you go.  By that I mean people trying to make a living, raising a family and trying to get the most out of life.

It never fails, I am always glad to return home and always think about grateful I am to live in a country like Canada.  Just like the United States - we all have it really good here folks - really we do!

Saw some really nice places in Brazil & Sao Paulo and saw some really bad places too!

We may complain about our Governments sometimes and the state of affairs in our respective countries but man we got it good!

Crime and poverty in Sao Paulo is horrendous and the slums are something that are almost unbelievable.  A few photos from my travels for you.
