I use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and I find it works better than AVG which I used to use

I was using AVG for years, until my wife's computer came to a crawl and I had to clean 3 viruses off of it.  I use Norton now, but it's not free.

Check with your ISP. I used Comcast for over a year before anyone mentioned they provided Norton for free.

I have Microsoft Security Essentials, Ad-Aware from Lavasoft, and Anti-Malaware Bytes

I was running Avast...then one day it locked up and would not update...

All 3 above are free....I think the Microsoft one is the best..it seems to catch things before they get to your computer...Ad-Aware is good also...I run all 3 at once, no issues

I'm pretty much happy with Avast

Another vote for Avast, been trouble free for me for about the last 4 years.

I used to run AVG until an update messed every thing up.  I've been using Avast the past 3 or so years on all our puters.

Also use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware.  It's not just virus' nowadays.

All free.

Also a good idea to download stuff off CNET.

BINGO.

I had AVG free on 20+ of my networked computers(for years) up until the end of last year.. Then a PILE of viruses walked right past it. Reeked havoc on my network...  :eek2:

Remember, you get what you pay for... You aren't paying for AVG, so don't expect much. If you want REAL protection get Norton or Trend Micro.

Spybot used to work well for me until something got a hold of me.  When I used Spybot to check it, it would freeze.  Malewarebytes and SuperAntispyware worked great.
