On my 72 charger I am looking for a replacement mech fuel pump.  Seems like the ones I find at the local parts stores have a straight armature that is clearly too long as the pump will not fit unless I force it.  The pump I took off has a slightly curved are....looks like the picture if you search for a carter m4845 (see pic).  Can't seem to find a standard replacement.  Any ideas?

Thank you.

Not quite sure what you mean when you say force it? The fuel pump arm rides on an eccentric on the cam. If the engine shut off with the fuel pump arm on the high side of the eccentric, than the pump arm will have to depress as the pump is bolting down. Is this what you might be feeling by "forcing it"?
