I've been storing my charger at my dads house, hes living a hour away from his property and is going to sell the house.  I need to move my car, but I have no where to put it.  I looked into storage, but the price to store a project car is way too expensive in my opinion I really dont want another bill.  I can store it in my friends yard, but Im afraid having it sit in the grass will cause a lot more rot than I already have.  A friend of mine has a nice shop and already restored a few muscle cars and said he'd buy it off me, but I really dont want to give it up.  Im thinking I should go with the last option so I can atliest know where it is and see it, but Im not looking to sign it over Id like to keep it.  Anybody have any other ideas?

Where are you located??

I cant imagine indoor storage costing more than 100-125$ a month (maybe less depending on where you live, here in NY your looking at 250$ or more)

Don't assume that dad's house sells in a week or two. It might be on the market for months/years.

What about leaving it where it is with the eventual new house owners? Pay them some rent, maybe they would be ok with it. :shruggy:

If it MUST be kept in a friends yard, outside, buy yourself a few of those blue/silver tarps at Wally World and lay one down on the grass. Tell your buddy his grass will have one big blank spot. (Sorry, the way it has to be)...Then tarp the hell out of it...Tie the tarps down. Animals, vandals, and gGod knows what else will get to it if not tied down....

I know I have some time to figure something out, he hasnt put it on the market yet.  I started to strip it down so moving it wont be easy and I dont want to wait until the last minute.  If I leave it in his yard I was definatly going to put a tarp down, or one of those plastic painters drop cloths, and cover it I already have enough rust to fix I dont need more haha.

With the way the real estate market is right now I wouldn't worry too much. Where is the car located? Your from NH aren't you? If you need to you could store it behind my shop, as long as you don't leave it here as long as my bro-in-law has left his shit in my garage (six years I believe) :flame:.
I'm located in Barrington. I also have a trailer.

With the economy being slow, equipment trailers are cheap.  I've seen 20 footers for under $1k.   You could roll it onto a equipment trailer and build and enclosure around it.   This has several advantages: 1) it's off the dirt, 2) it's mobile - no need for tow trucks, 3) it opens you up to storing on different properties from storage facilities to private property, to business with ample/extra equipment parking areas (It's not going to screw up an excavators equipment yard and he'd probably like to have $50 beer money for doing nothing.)  4) Property owners would be more comfortable to having a movable trailer than a junk car (in some eyes) on the ground.

The disadvantage is that you may not be able to work on it until you have a permanent home for it.  But you won't be able to work on it if you sell it.

Anyway, like others have said, it could be a while so sit tight until you have to move.

if you have a small airport near you. check out renting a hanger. slow economy many hangers sitting empty. i rented a whole hanger for 250 a month and split it with a friend. lots of room plus no fear of crime. just a thought. :shruggy:
