My car was originally a 318 car converted to a 440 (not by me). I recently took the car to the track and am annoyed by the fact that the rearend is not posi trac. it is a 8 3/4 rearend. Any suggestions on switching the car to a posi? I have never done any rearend work but am sure I can handle it.

I bought a Yokon suregrip and installed in my 489 8 3/4 that was not so much problem you can find good info at moparmusclemagazine, I will try to find a link.

Thanks for the link. Looks like they don't even recommend doing it themselves. Has anyone on here attempted to do their own rearend work?

thanks again..

Many have, yes. It's not hard, but it is time consuming and requires some specific tools that you won't have until you buy them specifically for these jobs.

You need torque wrenches, breaker bars, sockets, dial indicator and base and bearing wedges to begin with. After that, you need study time and practice. Unless you're fairly adept, fearless, and don't mind trying 3 or 4 times I'd recommend standing by while somebody shows you how to do it correctly the first time.
Axle setup is not normally something you bother learning and doing yourself if you only need it one time.
