Hey gang,

My 69 has a 727 that's tight and right. Like most gearheads I would have preferred a 4spd. Other than obvious things like getting a 4spd tranny, pedal assembly what's involved with a conversion? Any tranny support changes? Linkage assembly? Can I use my existing console with a 4spd top plate? The tranny hump will require a new opening yes?
I'm sure this has been covered before, pardon the repeat query. Thanks

This should cover most of your questions.....

I've tracked down alot of the needed stuff at this point and I can tell you, you wont do it if you want to save money. for example a correct 69 hurst shifter for a console car in nice condition goes for ugly money on ebay...

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

Yep, been covered repeatedly. I don't have the time to search but I've posted a parts list in the past and the thread covering my bronze car shows most of the modifications to the floor/frame.

Obviously you need the trans, bell housing, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, shifter, shifter handle, shifter rods, and shifter boots. You need to make sure your crank is set up for the 4-speed - usually this just involves getting the right pilot bushing. For the fun part of converting a finished/drivable car, you need to weld on a Z-bar bracket, firewall support bracket, and floor hump. The trans cross member is different as well - although an auto unit can be modified - but it's a bolt-on deal. You'll also need a set of pedals and all the linkages from the pedal to the clutch (torque rod, Z-bar, hardware kit, etc,). For a 69, you'll want the reverse light under the dash and you'll need a neutral safety switch. If you're using a console, the plastic body and top plate are different and you'll need the side cover and 4-speed specific side cover trim piece.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

six-tee-nine, yes sir! Butt ugly prices. Guess I'll have to get an OE 4spd car......no problem, pocket change!

You guys are the best!
