I am looking for parts to convert a 68 Coronet over to manual. I have an a-833od and I found a bellhousing.
Casting is 3515734, for a 10 1/2 clutch, should be 72 - 73  A B E 318 or 340. Will all I need to do is machine the retainer bore?
If I buy this I can also get the flywheel and clutch but will all this bolt up to the 67 318 ?
Are there differences in flywheels? Are they balanced for certain engines.

Now I also found a clutch pedal in a 69 Satelight. It's currently buried in snow. I will get it in the spring and hope
that there's other linkage there like the z bar. I was told that it was a 318 car so if it is there it should work.
But will this linkage work with that bellhousing?

Something I need to know is whether or not I should look for a bellhousing from a truck that had the overdrive transmission
behind a 318. Should I come across one I would buy it but I don't know if there is a difference with how the linkage works.
Some 89 trucks apparently had a hydraulic clutch slave with the fork on the passenger side, but again I don't know if
distance from the engine is the same or if the fabing is worth it to make it work.

Besides the retainer bore, are these bellhousings the same (exclude the hydraulic ) or do I need to look for a earliar 67-68 bellhousing and open it up?
Thanks for the help

Seems like the truck 318 bellhousings are hard to find, lots of slant six bells out there.
I'm going to go look at the 1972- 73 bellhousing Friday

Anyone know if it will work with 69 clutch linkage?

Really need to see a pic. of what your buying as far as trans goes. You need to make sure it is a long tail shaft trans..

I think I got a Small block OD bellhousing out in the shed...I'm Big Block all the way. But, I also have the matching short shaft, A-body trans with it(No good for what YOUR doing but still)...I guess I could be talked out of it for the right $$...

Well, Where abouts are you ? I'm in Ontario Ca.
I'm still not sure if the truck bellhousing is the same( linkage wise) as a an older bellhousing.
I can pick up this one from a 69 swinger for $50 and have it machined for what yet I'm not sure but I figure
another 50 should do it.
I still have one more call to make that's promising to find one locally.

The trans is a long shaft....it's got two spots for the shifter mount, one up and the other way down at the end.

Off topic..... this venture for parts has led me to some pretty interesting vintage junkyards
....off the beaten path with some pretty vintage owners but great guys to talk to.......one I actually took a walk around
Sort of a "walking in a winter junky land" Experience.  Waiting to get some pics to post from my brother inlaw's camera.
Saw some interesting stuff like a 47 Fargo, 64 Ranchwagon, Datsun 210 I think, AMC cars Matador, lots of old vans and trucks, big boats
and when the snow is gone I'm checking out another thats got wing cars, more Fargos and Yes, more Mopars than the one I went to.

OOOH, Boarder...Not good when shipping parts through customs...Too bad..I'm in Va. Machine work alone in that '69 Dart bellhousing will be mucho $$$ to cut the hole big enough...PLUS, I think the blot pattern WILL NOT allow it to be machined that far out without taking all the bolt holes with it...I could be wrong, but I think the OD front bearing retainer has a BIGGER bolt pattern to allow for thew bigger retainer size.

You REALLY need to find the correct bellhousing...And yes, as long as you get the correct CLUTCH FORK and PIVOT for the car it's going into, the bellhousing will work...Brewer's Performace or Passon Performance should have these parts. Just simply ask for a pivot and fork for a '68 B-body...

I know the machine work has been done before to do this type of mod, but you did give me an idea. I read somewhere that the retainer can be turned down a bit and that allows you to cut less out of the bell. I think that this was done to save the clutch pivot hole.
I am going to bring the retainer with me when I go look at it so I can get an idea eyeballing it.
For $50 I think I will pick it up anyway because I might build a 360 up where I would use a regular 4 speed if I distroy the overdrive.

I can't see the machine work being too much, I have used one guy in the past for other things and this should be an easy task with the equipment he has and talent.

I have never seen the linkage set up in person.... these bellhousings on the side somewhere, besides the pivot and fork do they not have some sort of other linkage bolted there down close to the starter?

As for the truck bell.... my starter will work as well? I hope the guy I am calling today has one at a good price, I guess as long as the length of the bellhousing is the same I will make it work one way or another
