70 DODGE CHARGER 47,000 MILE SURVIVOR !!!

I bought this Charger 15 years ago with 44,700 miles, and it's time to let somebody else enjoy it. I recently was informed that this car started out in Garfield Hts Ohio as a drag car. This person's father then purchased it in the mid 80's. At that time it was painted and a 400 engine was installed. Original engine was long gone. He also told me the vinyl top and carpet were replaced, along with some normal maintainence. Everything else was solid and the only bad spot was the lower quarter sections which were replaced. They did an excellent job as everything still looks great today. The Charger was then sold to a person in PA , and that's who I bought it from. Since I've owned it, I purchased "a year correct" 383HP engine which was completely rebuilt. Also rebuilt the 727 trans. I installed a New Sure grip center section with 355 gears, and had the driveshaft balanced with new U-joints. The front suspension and brakes were all redone. Tires are new and mounted on 15x7 Cop car wheels and caps. Interior is complete and is in excellent condition. As you can see by the pics, this Charger will still turn heads when taken out and will hold its own at your local show. Trunk pan has surface rust from moisture under the mat as seen in the pics. I painted it with POR 15 and it should last, but you could always have it repaired and painted. I have a copy of the window sticker and build sheet that was decoded by Galen Govier. I feel what makes this Charger unique is the way it's optioned with the big block HP drivetrain and bench seat. Don't think they produced that many like this. Also to survive all these years without being molested is remarkable! Runs and drives exceptionally well and can be driven anywhere at anytime. Have correct air cleaner, steering wheel and carb. Will send additional pics if needed. Please feel free to ask questions. This car will be sold as-is AND buyer is responsible for any and all shipping charges. Will accept Cahiers check, money order, cash or wire transfer to my bank. Funds must clear before car is released. Thanks for looking.

Dosen't look like a survivor to me AT ALL.....regardless it's a gorgeous Charger but man people sure are throwing around the survivor term loosely now a days.... :rotz: :shruggy:

Well technically it is a survivor...it is still on the road and not a compact metal cube...

Maybe people (non enthusiasts) just don't understand what the term survivor really means. This guy obviously does not understand this term and is not an enthusiat. IMO an enthusiast wouldn't sell a true survivor
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

The gold paint on the rear diff is surviving pretty well.  :yesnod:

Nothing screams Survivor like POR-15!!!

dkn1997

This is way more "survivor" than that charger...

dkn1997

Maybe cars with POR 15 in the trunk are survivors when the original rust is coming through?
and love the aftermarket tach.... that really fits the bill for unmolested.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

Troy

What I wanna know is how they managed to get Galen to decode anything on it? I mean, it's not a Hemi or even an R/T.

No matter, "survivor" is a real stretch - unless the fact that it survived needs to be mentioned in the ad.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

ACUDANUT

A survivor is any car that is still in one piece or is not crushed after 40 years.  :icon_smile_big:
AND I really don't think a 18 Y/O (you) could afford it anyway.   :shruggy:

:o Survivor!!

no..that car did not survive...it needs to go back into the ground from where it came.....

clanton

It just needs a little POR-15, and it will sell as a survivor.  :yesnod:

Vainglory, Esq.

Honestly, the whole "survivor" thing has been beaten to death.  Can we instead maybe talk about the fact that the ad says it hasn't been "molested."

What I want to know is who is going around molesting cars?  What does the molestation entail?  Does one have to list oneself on a registry and go around introducting himself to the neighbors if he's caught molesting a car?  Is it worse to molest a late model car, due to it being less than 18 years old?

ACUDANUT

Well, IMO if your not buying or selling it....who cares what they call their car.  :Twocents: :shruggy:

clanton

Nowadays, if you see a guy that looks like this, he's prolly molested a car.
