Hey Bill,

Its not hard to polish SS or aluminum trim, all it takes is patience. Buy a cheap 6" or 8" buffing motor at Harbor Frieght and some wheels/compound from Eastwood and you're good to go.

I was reading all the posts about polishing, and thinking of doing it myself.I'm looking at the buffer from eastwood.
The patience I have.I'm just worried of burning the piece. Thanks for the reply.

I use a right angle die grinder with the mini (3")buffing pads to buff my trim.Gives you great control of the tool, and the piece you're buffing, and lets you slow down the rpm to any desired  point.I start with the dark grey compound stick, and then finish off by hand with mag wheel polish, works great!!!! :Twocents:

Bill, I have a buffer & the polishes...your welcome to come by & borrow it.

I have done my own SS trim but Im not confident in doing someone else's....especially an NOS piece!

Sears had a $10 kit for a drill with the compound and 4 different pads.I had it in my hands,& at the last second,I saw the last buff kit and went with that. Thanks for the info.

Good luck Bill....just try and practice with a spare piece first & this site has a good tutorial as well as product.  I bought all my wheels & compounds from them.

Thanks Chris.I'm going to order the stainlees kit.
So far I used the wet sanding method & removed all scratches & shelf wear from it.I started with 600 & worked all the way to 1500.I even have a mirror finish almost.
I have to thank this site for all the good info.I've been reading all the old post on the subject and it really helped out .Thank you

I finished the trim piece. It came out so good. Can't tell anything was wrong with it.Got out all the shelf wear & scratches that was on it.Now this was a NOS piece,so I'm going to practice on some old w/s trim and see how that comes out. :2thumbs:
