DelMarCharger

I sold my 1969 R/T Charger in about 1983. When I sold it, I was living in Del Mar, CA, north of San Diego....
It was identical to the car on the banner ad on the 1969 Charger Registry. Red-Orange, with black vinyl top and black interior. 440/ 4-spd/ Dana 60, Rally wheels. Factory "Bent" Hurst shifter, with original T-Handle.
It had a Chrysler Blue block & heads, M/T black crinkle valve covers, console, and 1968 seats (pleated, not with buttons). Numbers matching engine was .030 over, with a radical Manley cam, and had an Edelbrock Torker manifold, and Holley 780 carb. It had a grey passenger-side front fender, because a small tree fell on the original.
The headlight doors actually worked! :)
It had a little red "Exempt" smog sticker from CA in the windshield on the passenger side from when they used to diconnect the vacuum advance to smog cars.

A needle in a haystack, I know...just wondering if the guy I sold it to was on this site, or if the description or history matches with somebody's car here.
I'm just hoping it is still around and in good hands.

" original T-Handle "  I thought 69 had the ball?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I bought the car from the second owner, maybe the original owner changed out the knob? I thought they all came that way.
I don't think I have the VIN anywhere. I do know it was XS29L9B.......but don't remember the rest.
I do have a couple of pics somewhere, someplace.
Thanks for the replies!

Just 6T9 CHGR

Without the rest of the VIN it is like looking for a needle in a haystack....

Road test pics one 69 coronet R/T the other a 69 charger 500.
Couple possibilities, parts availability, test cars got a little extra flair.

DelMarCharger

Yup, that's like mine was.
It was a California car, 1st sold in Los Angeles, and originally had CA plates 928 DSI. It went to Kansas for a year or so (WLM 760), and I bought it when it came back to CA, and I got new plates 1EIF 222.

Looks like 68 style power window switches on the driver's door ???

DelMarCharger

Those pics are NOT my car, they were posted by another member to show the shifter handle.

The T-Handle deal was probably the test magazines doing/preference for the performance testing part. Could also be a 100% Hurst set-up with the better shift rods in the test cars.

I kinda remember reading a test where the magazine actually mentioned the changes they made.

I found my old VIN #....... XS29L9B192194.

It would be really cool if somebody here had my old car!

That's great news, just wish we had a 69 registry to help you find it.

If you run a search online and your car is for sale with the VIN listed in the ad, it will probably come up. You might find it that way, but that's a long shot. If it's in someone's garage, it won't show. If you know someone at the DMV, they might be able to tell you if it's still an active registration. They won't be able to tell you anything other than that, and that's only if it's in that state's DMV.

Unfortunately, very limited choices. But, you're on the right path. Post the VIN on multiple Mopar sites with the car's history and you just might get a lead.
