I was at my moms house the other day and seen an old photo on the computer desk. I picked it up and seen there was an old car that  someone was leaning on. The photo is from 71 or 72 , and is very faded and in bad shape. So I stared a little harder and seen a R/T stripe around the ass end. Then I remembered my uncle telling me of some "green R/T" my mom had years ago. It turns out that her brother in law let her have it when he went overseas for the Army. Anyway I noticed the trunk key locks position, and seen how it kind of goes in the trim on a 70.Im 99 percent sure of it being a 70 Charger R/T. It looks like a lime green with black top and black interior. My mom says it was an automatic. Get this....she said she sold it for a few hundred dollars. Interesting This is the first time Ive seen or heard of it being a Charger, even though my whole family knows how I am about my 68. Crazy.

chargervert

My mom had a 70 R/T SE,440 automatic car too. It was triple F8 green. It was our family car from 1971-1982. She sold it for $650.00,with an NOS Drivers side rear quarter panel. Someone wacked the left rear quarter, and they bought the panel, but never fixed it. I used the car several times, when they went on the road(my step father was a long haul truck driver) and raced the kids from school with it! I never lost a race! I told the guys that I could beat them with my moms car,I guess they thought my mom would have a station wagon or something! They were wrong!

As long as you have it sized correctly just click the reply button. Where it says "attachment" go browse for the filename you want and select it. When you post the pic should be there.

You don't need to put the link in the attachments window.

Just cut/paste it between [img*] [/img*] tags (minus the *s) to make it appear in your post. :2thumbs:

A Falcon????........with a stripe around the ass end? Look at the vinyl top,the rear window, the bubbled out quarter panel... Am I the only one who sees this? Compare these two pics, maybe this will help.

Look at the deck lid..that isn't a Charger. To me it looks like a 68 or so Ford Galaxy they had a slightly sloped roof like a 68-70 Charger and the vinyl top option.

I think I'll sit on the fence on this one for a while. Do you have any other photo's from another angle. Something about the roof line just doesn't say Charger to me. Seems the rear window goes more straight up and down than a chargers. It doesn't have the slope to it, but it could just be the angle of the camera during the picture too.

chargervert

The picture is taken from a weird angle, but it does have the upward curve on the end of the trunk lid like a charger

694spdRT

I am going with a '70 Charger because of the body color tailpanel and trim. I think the shot is taken at a higher point or maybe the car was on an incline. There looks to be a stripe or some shadows on the decklid making it look different too. The rear window trim and recess sure look like Charger pieces to me. Plus, you can almost make out the round remote mirror on the driver door.

Most of the pics you see look like the one Charger posted with a straight shot from directly behind. This one is just from a different perspective IMO.

:iagree:  70 Charger.....look at the relation of the trunk lock and the tailpanel trim in both photos
Chris' '69 Charger R/T

ramit

The reason I said it looks like an old ford to me is because the trunk lid looks like it has the rounded curve of a late 60's fairlane, torino, or galaxie.

ramit

O.K. now I see what I thought was a rounded lip on the trunk edge looks like an R/T stripe to me now.   I just might be leaning towards a charger now. ;D  Maybe it is a Datsun 240Z (just kidding).

Now that Japanieese comment is a little uncalled for! :icon_smile_big:

RT DAVE

Is there some reason you don't trust your mom and your uncle when they tell you she had an R/T?  Shouldn't that end the debate right there, more or less?  Did you show her the picture and ask her about the car or is she no longer with us?  If that's the case, my apolgies for asking.   Take care...

Yea, I'm not understanding why anyone would think that's a Ford product. Nothing else out there has sail panels that are that long. Even a GTO. Look at the sail panel to the right of the woman and baby. If that's not a Charger I don't know what is.

That's what it looks like to me too. :yesnod:
One thing's for sure, it's NO Galaxie. Look at the two ribs on the trunk lid...and in the 2nd pic, the vinyl doesn't wrap around the sail panels like a Charger does...so no check mark trim on these cars.

Thanx for the replies. I believe it is a 70 Charger myself. As far as my Mom goes, she said she remembered having an "R/T" of some sort, but couldnt remember what. Shes not much of a car person, and it was 36 years ago.

sthemi

It is a charger, who elso has checkmark moldings

69_500

The more I look at it the more it looks like a Charger. Just not 100% though, probably 95%. I looked through a stack of hundreds of pictures to see if I had a photo from about the same angle of a 68-70 charger but to no avail. But the vinyl makes it appear to be a charger as well as the trunk lock position. The rear window just looks weird from that angle though.

   I don't think it's a Charger guys.....It looks more like a 67 Chevelle or 67 Skylark IMO!

I guess you can make out more detail in that pic of your mom holding you as that deck lid is of the non-stripe variety.

1940 ford?   I wonder how long this thread is going to go on for?

ramit

Look at this pic.  It has to be a 1940 ford. ;D

68ChargerJMP

Hey greenpigs, what do u mean that decklid is of the non-stripe variety? 70 Chargers had R/T stripes didnt they? u cant see the stripe on the pic posted? That darkness at the end of the decklid is the stripe, if u look close u can see the big stripe sandwiched between the little stripes on each end.

chargervert

That car is a 70 Charger R/T,I know I have block sanded enough of them to know! And I still have more to go!

Yes a 70 Charger RT had a stripe, that darkness looks like a shadow to me. Where is the stripe on the rest of the decklid? is it the angle? is it because its a 40 Ford?  Its not that big of a deal but I still think it isn't a 3rd gen Charger.

They don't have any other pictures?

68ChargerJMP

Yeah, its not not really a big deal. I was just curious. But it must be your computer, because even on the posted pic of it, u can see that it is clearly a stripe on the decklid. The reason u cant see it on the right side, is that my sisters head is popping up in the corner of the picture. Thanx.
