I have a modified truck 9 3/4 rear without the snubber installed in my 66 and was wondering how necessary is the snubber? I also have new HP leaf springs, a rear sway bar and a fresh set of HD nitrogen charged shocks. I am also running a 440+6 and a Treamic 5 speed. Why does a car need one and a pickup doesn't? Has anyone come up with a clever idea as to installing snubber to a housing that wasn't cast for it? I was thinking about installing an adjustable snubber to the floor board. I know the original 8 3/4 with 2:73 gears being pushed by a 361 and automatic trans would hit the floorboard under hard acceleration but the springs only had I think 3 1/2 leafs that were over 30 years old.

Trucks have a lot more clearance above the pinion, and don't usually have the shock load of performance holeshots. If you install a set of Cal-Tracs you won't need a snubber.

:iagree:  Some have made an adjustable snubber affixed to their tunnel floor.
