yes they are being sold now... BUT YOU CAN GET IT FIXED at Locksmith ( thats the keys and cilinders fixing company in USA, right ? )

I have done it locally on keys shops, and they usually work like new ( depending on where and how's the damage )

I am new here just looking for some parts and info.  Every problem I have had everyone here has helped me out thanks for everything.  Here is my General Lee loaded up on the trailer the day she came home to me.

Looks like she's jumping off a ramp.

I got my ignition switch at Auto Zone.  They carry door and trunk locks as well.  Plus it's cheap.

Not for a 69 you didn't. The 69 parts are a one year only deal and, until recently, they were pretty much unavailable anywhere. The switch is being repopped now but I'm not sure about the lock cylinder - although I think it is.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Isn't the lock cylinder the same as other years?  Just the switch body is different?  And I agree.  Just take the cylinder out and take to any good locksmith and they should be able to get it squared away for you.  You might end up having to take the whole switch as well as the door locks but they can tell you what they need.  Same key fits both.  I believe the cylinder comes out after you insert the key and turn to the ON position.  Then  you put a paper clip into a hole at the back of the switch body, push down, and then pull the cylinder/key out.  Leastways, I think this is how it's done.

Troy

Pretty sure the lock cylinders are different lengths and possibly diameters. I don't have a picture of the cylinders side-by-side but here's the 62-68 switch/bezel next to a 69.

what exactly is wrong with your key ignition switch when you say sticky? i'm having problems with my switch in my 73 challenger and am looking for a good source to buy a new switch from. my key go's in and out and turns to on no problem. but i don't get power when i turn the key to start it so i turn it on and off acouple times then it will start sounds like a bad switch right?

caseymp2001

When I put the key in i have to grab the key firm and "fish" around to have the key line up and sometimes it will turn but most of the time it dosent turn.  Its like its not the right key but it does work all the keys I have are the same way.

ODZKing

The switch is 2864463 and
the cylinder is 2935906.
Advance and Auto Zone have an interchange.  Either or both should have it.
Otherwise they're all over E-Bay.

Sounds like the key itself OR the lock cylinder. I had a spare key made at Wal-Mart one time and it wouldn't hardly work at all. The original was very worn so that probably didn't help.

This sounds like the switch.
