Will a 70 console fit in 69

If you want to put a automatic console in a 4 speed car it won't work. If you want to put a '70 console in a '69 car with the same transmission it will work.

Technically, '66 to '70 will fit. However, the '66-'67 console is made from a different material and has a bolt on tail piece. These bolt on tail sections did not come in '66-'67 Charger consoles because of the full rear seat console. One from a Coronet or Satellite will work. The '68-'70 consoles are one piece.

The next problem is the console top plates from '66-'68 were chrome ribbed instead of having the woodgrain inserts. They will fit but not look correct in a '69-'70 car.

Actually the 67 one is the same as the 68-70 one.  The 67 was 2+2 seating but it did not have the full length console, that was a 66 only piece.  There is a hole in the back of the compartment of the 67 ones for a light but that is the only difference.  Everything else about the shell is the same.

You are rignt, is the material the same as well?

Yes.  It even cracks in the exact same spot at the very back on the top.
