Give it up guys.  If the Dukes were on TV today they'd be driving 5.0 mustangs from the late 80's.

Take a $30,000.00 car, dump $15,000-$20,000.00 more into it and presto; it's now worth $6,500.00.

I actually liked the stance of that thing! With a different color scheme i would not be embarassed to have that thing in the garage at all!!
The GL thing kinda ruins everything though.....GL is a 69 Charger....... everything else is just not right, and looks stupid!
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

Its a 2010, with lots of history
They must have crammed a lot of history into one year, then. Half it's life so far, has been spent in a body shop...the rest has been spent at various car shows.

At least it photographs well. Whoever did the metal work on it, seems to have done an excellent job. Although they should have filled in the weatherstrip holes along the front half of the bottom of the door. :icon_smile_wink: Or maybe added more along the rear & slapped some weatherstripping back in.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

As big a DOH fan as I am, I agree it would be better off w/o the General Lee paintjob.

There are quite a few fans of the LX Chargers for their own sake who might pay for it just because it's got the 2dr conversion.  I doubt $90K is ever happening but they could get more money than it was worth stock.

There's nothing wrong a General Lee (are we really all that lazy that we have to type "GL"?).  Of course, that thing at the top of this post is not, nor ever will be one.

UH60L

Since there seems to be a never ending hatred concerning the General Lee, I'm gonna throw out a statistic that I think everyone needs to hear now and again.

The Dukes of Hazzard tv show used, crashed, included, however you want to say it, less than 1% of the total number of 1968 and 1969 dodge chargers that were produced.  That's all 7 seasons of the show.

Less than 1%.

More of them were crushed in the 1980s for scrap than were ever painted orange with an 01 on the side.

If it wasn't for that show, a lot more of them might have been crushed. It would be interesting to know the approximate number that were saved due to people remembering that show.  Thanks to interest in the General, I now own a '69.  Before that show, I didn't know mopar from cheerios, and probably never would have!

Ghoste

And now because of the DOH, they'll be saving the new ones from the crusher too.
I love the car myself. :nana:

troutstreamnm

QuoteLess than 1%.
That's roughly 800+ 1969 Charges destroyed during the run of this highly educational show.  Not to mention all of the side shows and state fair exhibitions that destroyed these cars.  What a waste.  :RantExplode: At least we got Daisy Duke out of it  :drool5:

Right.  But,that's 10% of original production subtracted from remaining Chargers (at time of filming).  They weren't in abundance in the rust belt when the GL appeared...

Just the same, I find it tough to argue against the dukes saving more than they killed.

Not quite 800.  Personally I'd guess it less than 150 cars killed, including all the newer movies & modern live shows.

The jump cars have always been disproportionately 318s.  The smallblock drivetrains need less trunk ballast.

aussiemuscle

as much as i like dukes and GL, i think the first thing i'd do owning this is get rid of the decals (although looks like they are painted on), it spoils the look of the car. just plain orange would have been better.

and richard, yes i'll have daisy, she's still got it.

Actually, your wrong, it's LESS than 1% of the total of all '68 and '69 chargers combined.

AKA, aprroximately 320.  Total.

UH60L

Oh, and I did say, just the TV show.

Since someone brought up "side shows" that destroyed more....if your refering to the Dukesfest thing that goes on every year, i have it on good authority that they try use the same car every year (they have a year to rebuild it), and probably have onyl used 2 or three since it started.

Most of the people I have seen that have a "clone" General Lee car would never jump or destroy it.

I know if I had made mine into one, I would never have done that.

As I stated before and still stands true, thousands were crushed for scrap, yet the Dukes get blamed for "ruinning all those cars" and "aint it a shame" etc etc.

I think some people's hatred is fueled by something other than love of '69 chargers.

Shakey

Hey that car looks OK to me!  I'd remove the 01 off of the doors and use it as my daily driver.   :yesnod:

Agreed.  Ma Mopar didn't see fit to retro the Charger.  BE GRATEFULL SHE DIDN'T.  Why would anyone be real impressed with our old ones otherwise?  I know I'd rather the new Challenger then the old.

Didn't I read that her husband died in a semi-suspicious situation last year?  Or was it 2009.

Never did hear what happenned with that.  Anyone know.

Her husband committed suicide last April.  Her husband basically went out to the back yard with a pistol put it to his head and pulled the trigger.  I read there was a note left behind but I don't believe it was ever revealed what was written on it.  The kids were at school at the time, and I believe Cathy was home.  On the 911 tape Cathy was distraught not knowing what was going on.  She heard what she thought was a gun going off, saw her husband on the ground out back and called 911.

UH60L

Boy, that sucks.  I've had some rough times in my life, but nothing bad enough to ever consider suicide.

Looking from the outside in, without knowing the details, I would think in the back of my mind that being married to Catherine would be enough to keep me from ever doing that.  (regardless of what she looks like now)

My wife was 5ft 3in and 125 pounds when we got married.  After two kids she went up to as much as 221 at one point.  Now after Lap-Band surgery, she is back down to 139.

Guess what, she was always the woman I married and loved, and our "personal life" was always good no matter her size.  IE, Daisy Duke is still Daisy Duke, even if she is heavier and has kids now.

So, to answer a question posed a few posts up, if Daisy Duke wanted to.....I would, even if she's a little heavier now.

Bobs69

If she wanted to.................

Just think of the sense of humour women gotta have to be with us.  Like looking back on things how the hell did we attract our wives?  Not solely with our physiques.

WB General Lee

Sorry to answer your question and be perfectly honest I would never think about it. I have never been with a woman over 25 years old and 120 pounds. Like I said she is a beautiful person but that's just me.

Well, that's a very telling statement.

Your not one of those guys that complains about a woman's "huge butt", when said woman weighs 121 pounds, are you?

What if she's 6 foot 4 inches and 120 pounds?  Can you say "stick figure"?

WB General Lee

LOL ya I am a little flexable didn't mean to sound so harsh. I did date a girl that was 120 but she was 5'9. You cant blame me she was in Playboy Girls Next Door. I have always been single so I figure why not have fun   :drool5:

UH60L

I saw a woman in the local Wal-Mart yesterday that was all of 7 feet tall and perfect curves, long blonde hair, beutiful in every way.

She was obviously more than 120 pounds, hehe, and boy was she HOT!  Made me wish I was single and 25 pounds skinnier!!!

Yeah, nothing wrong with having fun.

I just give some of my co-workers a hard time because they complain about their girlfriend or wife have a big a--, and she is literally playboy quality hotness, and I would take her in a heartbeat.  :drool5:  Most of them have never dated/been married to/had sex with a woman who REALLY had a big a--.  Their women are as skinny as the ones you date, yet they still complain.....

Some people just don't know how good they have it, ya know.  It's like they all want their women to look like they're 12 years old.  Personally I'd rather they looked about 28, but whatever, hehe.    It's all good

Another West Coast Customs creation. They've done a few two door conversions. I really like the orange Gen Lee one, but $89K is way too much $. That specific car (unless theyve done more than one identical conversion) is already a few years old - I remember seeing it at LX shows as far back as 2007-2008. My guess is that the asking price is related to being a WCC car and that it's been on TV a couple of times. But if I really wanted a two door LX Charger, I'd just buy a used R/T or SRT and have the conversion done for about a 3rd of the price.

Its weird everyone has different taste. I have a friend I go out with that wouldn't get near the women I date. At the Ozzie concert the other day I told him look at that girl and he told me where lol! He will do the same to me. Its all in the eyes of the beholder but I am sure noone would complain about the women in the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

I know that GL needs work but I think the price is reasonable for what you are getting. Anything can be repaired check out before and after.
