What is the most NOTEWORTHY car you have ever owned?

Have we played this one yet?
What is the most noteworthy car you have ever owned?  By noteworthy, I mean something that makes it stand out in the collector car world not the one that is most noteworthy to you for a personal reason.  For example, owning a car that you bought new in 1969 is cool but not a standout.  On the other hand, the 70 Road Runner used the 1970 magazine ads is.

Myself, I have never owned anything outstanding by the definition I've laid out but I am still interested to know whats in the past (or present) for some of you.

adauto

I've owned noteworthy but NOT in a good way. There was a very tragic hiway accident here some years ago (that made national news). A piece of metal feel off of a scrap truck and got wedged under a Dodge caravan. The gas tank got punctured, the metal piece was throwing sparks. You can guess what happended next. At hiway speed imagine..... an intense explosion/fireball going up through the floor of the van.... full of kids. It was aminister and his family. Seven kids as I recall but I'm going back maybe 15-20 years by now. I think the parents and one child survived. The van ended up at my shop. 90% burned with a hole in the center of the floor about 3 feet around.

People with classic rides think going to the J yard is just all fun and games and a good time. Unfortunately recyclers get the remnants of dramatic occurances sometimes...... and I ended up owning it

It took me a bit to find a link to the story/I realize this is a bit far from the original intent of this posting SORRY. But it did change lots of regulations in haulingscrap/junk cars!

Just owning a 4-speed '68 XP Charger. Not many of them made, and a lot rarer than a '68 4-speed XS. My :Twocents: noteworth.

Personally I'd have to say none. But if you include what my dad had when I was a kid. I'd have to say the R4 HEMI 500 with a black vinyl top. Thats a pretty noteworthy car.

mine would appear to be one of the last '69 R/T SEs built in july.. Chris would have the avail. numbers to verify that...

Not that noteworthy but the most rare car I've ever owned would have to be my '70 Coronet. It's 1 of 41 '70 500s built with a 318 3spd manual.

Hard call.  My 70 SuperBee 440/6 4spd air grabber car, 70 Chevelle LS6 454/450hp 4spd car, 69 RS Z/28 4spd car, or my 69 Camaro RS/SS 396/375hp 4spd car.  Thing is, I don't own them anymore.  :'(
And my Charger is an automatic.  ::)  Though I kinda like it.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

When I bought mine in the 80's I was told it was 1 of 109.  Nice to see it's true.  That was a Dana Go wing car also.  The paint was original as was the drive line.  Miss that car.

in high school I owned a 1949 International Harvester KB-3 pickup. doesn't sound like much I know, but it had just under 24k on the clock when I sold it, it had a all steel bed (including the floor, not the normal wood floor) and it was painted in a color International never offered. It was ordered for the Minot ND Air Force Base, and had to be painted blue naturally. I was told it ended up being the personal vehicles of one of the higher up officers, since it was the only one with the all steel bed. Unfortunately I've never been able to get verification of this, since the owner who bought it from the Air Force passed away in the mid 1990s.

I guess Doctona for me.

And my black Six-Pack Challenger......It got me back into the hobby.

Chad L. Magee

Humm :scratchchin: I have a few to list that could qualify (all projects)....

Chargers:
1970 Base model /6, three on the tree manual, bench seat, still needs restored (my flagship car)
1970 RT triple black, 4-speed, stripe delete (maybe not rare, but unusual to see)
1969 RT triple green, 4-speed, stripe delete, towing package (supposedly not available with manual)
1968 383-2bbl., 4-speed, white with red inserts interior that is very rare in 68 (exterior is red with white top, a Cornhusker car!)
used to own: 1968 318-2bbl., three on the tree in yellow/tan/gold combo

Plymouths:
1966 HP2 Satellite, 4-speed, maybe the first street hemi car out of the St. Louis plant (was produced on Dec. 15, 1965, but unsure where, missing VIN tag but have fender tag that matches the SO #s on the body), was a drag car for quite some time before ending up in a KS junkyard....

Mustangs:
1971 Boss 351, Grabber Green, Deluxe green interior group (according to MAR, only 8 mustangs in 1971 had that combo for some reason), almost makes it worth bringing it back from the rusty, crusty pile that is left of it
1967 I6 coupe, 3-speed manual, Sport Sprint edition in light yellow exterior/green interior (less than 200 Sport Sprints made that year of all engine types and models, most were 289s, yet to see another I6 version)

and a few other projects that need restored yet :D.....
Ph.D. Metallocene Chemist......

The one I own now by far.. :coolgleamA:
1968 R/T 440/4 Spd (Prototype Factory Sunroof)
2008 R/T 5.7l HEMI (Road & Track)

HANDM

I never actually took posession, but I had the signed title to a 77 pontiac Can Am. The dude who owned it, got arrested and sent back to wherever and his car was at a local impound lot. I went to the lot hoping the fee would be small , turns out it was 300 and I only had a hundred  :brickwall:

The car was in good shape too and as I recall it had the 6.6(?) engine, t-tops or sunroof and electric everything and not to mention RARE

Car is long gone.
1969 Road Runner 426 Hemi 4 speed. The thing that  makes it noteworty. is it was a 99 Rallye green 4 speed car. and the last time I 'ck'd it was the only 4 spd hemi car known in that color

The most note-worthy would have to be the one in the picture just to the left..........   :icon_smile_big:

Mine would have to be my 70 Bee for the reason I bought it in the first place. Factory, AC, PW, PS, Power Disc brakes, 3 speaker dash, 8-track, FK5/FK5. To bad it's only a 383 with auto on the column.

HMMM, noteworthy?  probably my 64 Custom 880.  My parents bought it new, and in 45 yrs of driving and going to car shows, I have seen 1 other one that used to run around Bellevue Wa, a tan one, with a dent in the rear, one in a garage in Kent Wa.  We sod the car in 89, and in 94 I saw it again, and havent seen it since then.

I have never seen another one anywhere else  since then either.  I had a 65 Custom 880 and have never seen another one of them either.

i inherited my mom's '66,.. four door hardtop 880 custom... when i was 18, I didn't have it too long but I loved that 'ol tank!  :yesnod:

back in 1948 i had a 1932 chev. one day i heard a noise coming from the engine so my father said it was the bearing.  so i took off the pan and took out the rod caps off the piston rods.it had babbit bearing in it and i had to put new ones in. i put them in turned the engine over and took them off took a knife and cut off the high spots and put them back in agian. i had to do it 4 times before they fit right.

LeeBoy

My 68 Charger 318 2bbl 3 speed on the column. Supposedly 3 known to exist. It's sitting in the garage waiting for resto. It will be a 440 4 speed when completed
