i've been reading the thread on the orange hemi charger forsale in san francisco.that car was stolen!it belongs to brad bailey of las vegas.hes owned the car since 74 and recently got it from storage on his dads estate.he advertised it forsale and this scumbag who has a bodyshop contacted him.they made a deal for him to clean up and detail the car and bring it to barrett jackson for auction then split the profits.upon receiving the car the dirtbag applied for a california title to acquire the car.he held it for ransom against brad stating that a lot of money was owed for all the repairs.he used a warehousemans lein.brad doesn't have the money to take him to court so therefore has lost his car.this is very sad.i've also been told that the seller will only take cash to dodge any irs implications.good luck bringing 50k plus in cash to south san fran.brad did try to retreave the car only to be met by 15+ bandana wearing mexicans.i hope this piece of sh*t gets what he deserves.incidently the car is real, numbers engine, never had any rust or accidents, been in storage since the early 70's and has 23k original miles.brad has the fender tag and build sheet at his dads property.

I wonder if you couldn't make it happen. Use craigslist or something, get a date going and pass it along. Hell, I bet if you tried you could get a thousand people to show up! You know the rules, never ever touch the car...

Anybody who buys the Charger is asking to be screwed to the wall...First, you were recieving stolen merchandise. Second, you will return that car to the rightful owner if found to be in fact, stolen. Third, your wallet will be lightened by about $50K...Psst, I have some ocean front property in Arizona if your interested...

Well, we all have our opinions I guess. I can tell you that I've never been ripped off in a deal by anyone who wasn't a white American - and that includes supposedly "reputable" shops. Now, I've had stuff stolen (or attempted to be stolen) by folks who weren't white but that's not the same as meeting face to face, making a deal, shaking hands, and still getting screwed.

As for the car, isn't there a saying that goes something like "possession is 9/10ths of the law"? I had a shop hold my car hostage once. It ruined any trust I have for any other shop. Police did the same thing - told me it was a civil matter but they were waiting for me at the shop in case I "tried to start any trouble".

guys get off the race issue, has nothing to do with what is going on here.

68charger383

The story isn't really adding up for me....guy gives a car to someone else to clean up for BJ and they'll share the profits etc., mechanic lien placed etc., seems like we're missing a lot of the small details.  :scratchchin:

If he needed Ex. $15K to bail the $100K + BJ potential car out from the body shop, I'm sure there were plenty of people who would have lined up (with a written contract) to give him the money we'll say in exchange for repayment of the loan + $5K upon the sale etc.   :shruggy:

i posted the story as told to me.the guy brad who lost the car isn't whining at all,in fact hes walked away from it and is trying to forget about it.he realizes hes made a stupid mistake.but hes not in a financial position to do anything about it.thats why this is so sad.this con man is a slick talker and could sell ice to an eskimo.because brad has owned the car for 35+ years(in storage on his dads property)does not mean hes a savvy car guy or even a car guy at all.he was trying to clean it up a little to sell and got conned bigtime.someone who lives near there should stop by and inquire about the car.ask him how long hes had it and where he got it.if we can get the word out that the car is stolen,it'll make it hard for him to sell.this whole thing turns my stomach.

There has to be something that can be done. There is NO WAY IN HELL I would walk away from a '70 Hemi Charger that I've owned for 35+ years and let some scumbag keep it.....no frickin' way.

It's to late to handel this the old fashion way, everyone knows about it. If I was this guy I would make sure everyone knows this story. Someone that has the money for a car like this will not want the tag that comes with it. Follow the car and let everyone know the bullshit that goes with the sale. I would make the car famous for being stolen. I only say this because if I did not have the money to fix the problem legaly, this would be my course of action. That being said, WTF WAS HE THINKING IN THE FIRST PLACE!

I've always wondered the same thing, why would someone air this in public & make it worse? It's always been best to get everything lined up legally first, then warn others later. There has to be a lawyer who would take this on contingency, mine did.
