I think they are playing with words and mean only one to exist in the Chrysler Registry not out of the total production as we can see by the above tags.

Well it might  be the only one to have XX on the VIN though. The other one is XS if I remember right, but they are both legit HEMI 500's that are Blue with blue interior. I would find it hard to believe that both aren't registered because at one time they were both owned by the same person.

I almost traded my old Daytona for this Hemi C500 about seven years ago, it was near Cleveland, Ohio then. I think it was once owned by that big Hemi car collector down south that had Hemi cars and other Mopars stored all over his place.

Yup same car Steve. And he is also the same one who had the nice R6 HEMI 500 that Ed Cook later wound up with and restored.

Just 6T9 CHGR

I have 3 total in my registry.....the 2 above in the tag pics as well as this one...

Ok so I finally looked at my list intead of just trying to remember. I have a total of 4 listed at are factory B5 blue with blue interior. And if I'm not mistaken this car would be 224401. Is anyone going to the auction?

Hi Danny, how was your holiday? Hope you are all doing well, and that includes the C500.

This car was nice but not near as good as the R6 Hemi C500 which I really came close to making a deal on with him and one of the previous owners. I remember begging Ed to trade me for my Daytona even before he did that awesome resto. :'(

Here is the car that was owned by Pete, who had both the blue car and the red one. He confirmed the VIN was 224401. Is this for sure the same car thats up for auction??

I was guessing. I know that is the car that Pete had, but as I'm continue to go over the possiblities in my head I don't think that is the car up for auction. I believe the one in the auction is a AT car. I would think that if it was a 4 speed car they would be very proud of it and at least list that in the auction details. The one thing I can say for sure is that is it by no means the only B5 blue car with blue interior, and its not even the only B5 on blue HEMI 500 be it AT or 4 speed.

Troy

The ad says it's an automatic - and once owned by Galen Govier.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

richRTSE

I think the auction car is Pete's old 224401. I asked Pete about it again and he said it was owned by Galen. And it was also a disk brake car and had 4.10's like the auction listing says.

224401 is an auto car. The red car Pete had was a 4-speed.

So, looking at this it appears the car is to be auctioned off at Mechum's Florida auction in a couple of weeks.  This car sold at the Russ-Steele auction in Monterey California in August for something like $85,000.  I wonder if the new owner doesn't like the car or he thinks there is still money to be made by selling it at another auction?

Perhaps the owner really started scrutinizing it & decided to bail? Looking at pictures, the car looks good initially, but the engine compartment shows quite a few sins; ie: unpainted intake, missing cab stud, wrong distributor & wires, rusty master cyl.....and that's just what can be seen in that limited picture.

Looking at the pictures below, the car has missing trunk plugs, no spray goop on the inside of the quarters, the fill tube gasket looks like it's installed upside down, seat belts are just tossed over the console instead of on the clips, the '500' emblem is missing from the grille and there appears to be something silver or chrome on the dash under the radio, but I can't make out what it is.....

One really has to wonder what this car really looks like in person.
