Anyone ever noticed this with the 68 headlight bezels?

So I have a few sets of these and they always seem to be cracked on the bottom edge under the headlight. There is generally a notch in that area which leaves it very thin and prone to breakage. I found this set (on the right) which doesn't seen to have that notch. Anyone else have some?

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Maybe MaMopar realized this design flaw and fixed it?  :scratchchin:

The notches are for reaching the h/l adjusting screws ,right? Maybe like stated above they stopped doing and simply made it so you were required to remove them to adj. the headlights.

When your Charger is sideways, just give it more gas!

Amazing how that is just noticed 40 years later.  Also how the design change was done on something that was basically a one year item.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I can't tell from the pictures...are the part numbers the same on each left side and each right side?

Yes, identical. I was hoping they'd be readable in the pictures.

I didn't know there was a difference in bezels between 68 and 69. I have seen them crack in the notch though. For some reason I was thinking the notches cleared the raised squares around the edges of the actual lamp. I have a couple sets so I'll have to look.

Technically, they are a 68 only piece. People like to add them to their 69 but they didn't come that way originally.

Thats because they realized, who the hell would be staring into the headlights anyway at night when the lights would be on to even notice the extra bezels, and stopped after that one year only thing?????

I wonder if they'd work on a 70.  Anyone try that??   Oh, to fix the crack, lay a thin piece of fibreglass and resin and then trim it once it dries.  That should stiffen it up some.
