All the A/C parts were painted in approx a 10% dulled black enamel. Basically just enough to take off the mirror shine.
If all goes well, everything 'should be' bolted back together later this week and be re-installed in the chassis.

Underbody received all new fuel and brake lines ft to rear. New gas tank goes in tomorrow . Ft. Suspension - K-frame assy is cleaned up and ready with the late model disc brake conversion.

gtx6970

Once I got the fuel tank removed , I found this nasty mess. It's soaking in solvent now hopefully it'll remove all the nasty undercoating , then will get droped in a tube of evaporust . Hopefully it'll clean up
While I'm here. I thought I'd show a  pic to show the original red clamps still very visible on the vent tube.

You lucky SOB!! Where did you find an NOS hose & those brackets NOS????

I paid dearly for mine & they're not "right"  (i think my tube brackets are actually from a 70-71)

Hose is in fact NOS, and will work if I can't find the correct one.
A friend of mine parted out a 69 charger 383 with air years ago. He still had most of it.
And while we were looking thru a box of misc brackets he had, as He's restoring a 67 R/T convertible with air and he needed some for his car. fortunately he had several for this car, ( and none for his car )

Once I get the power steering pump painted and mounted, I'll post some installed pics of all the a/c stuff.
But by part # the rear bracket  #'s are not in the 70-71 book . So there is some kind of difference, What the difference is I have no idea

I know he has at least 2 more of the longer brackets nos, and maybe even 1 or 2 more of the short rear brackets . if your in need let me know and I'll ck this weekend, as I have to go back over and root thru a box of heat riser parts to hopefully get this one operational again.

Bill if you are referring to the rear compressor mounting bracket (that mounts to the head), there is a difference between 383 & 440

383---2951809
440---2899961

See the below pics for measurements

Even the tubes are different between the 383 & 440

440---

I think the 70-71 tubes differ slightly in the bends.....looking at this test fit pic I took of my stuff, you can see the short bracket curves pretty sharply at the intake.   Also i believe the long bracket has less of an arch 70-71 than the '69 did..... I had to a little grinding of the bracket to get to to sit flush on the intake....it would hit on one of the runners on the intake

Chris' '69 Charger R/T

gtx6970

Chris,
You are correct. all 3 of rear brackets are unique to the engine size and year. Only the ft bracket is shared between the 2
and I think only the front bracket part number crossed over to 1970 that I can find.

I've done a test fit already before paint and everything lines up and fits like it should.

ps, the intake manifold bolt under the drivers side  bracket is left plated and not painted engine color as one would think

Ok, Spent the week in with a few other projects.Alng with getting all the engine acc's cleanded , blasted and painted.
But the drivetrain is about ready to go back in. I picked up some much needed parts to repair the pass side manifold heatriser . Once it's done, back in it goes then on to the prepping the Hemi Cuda to start for the 1st time.

Enjoy,
All blasted and in primer.

gtx6970

the Original and dated horns , and they still work.
Painted in a dulled gloss black enamel

gtx6970

Done, and installed with new mounting hardware

gtx6970

All the A/C compressor and related brackets, with exception to a better water pump idler and bracket ( already have one on the way so it'll be on by next weekend )

gtx6970

New power steering pump installed in the original reservoir and metal cap

gtx6970

It still had it's original yellow kickdown spring and it was still in nice shape . So after about 2 minutes in the glass bead cabinet and some John Deere yellow( ( I think is a very close match ) the red dot was still very visibile and has been put back on btw

Last one for today.

Mini starter from DB ELectrical , fits like a glove

As far as  I know they are the originals. I didn't catch the direction they were pointing till you pointed it out .  :slap:
I'll switch them around tomorrow

Yellow kickdown spring?  looks like I have the wrong stuff?   also looks like you have a grey-ish spring for the carb return?  A/C only?

Also my comp brackets came with this little battery cable bracket attached to the rear compressor bracket bolt?  69 item? Hoffmans car had it as well...
Chris' '69 Charger R/T

gtx6970

Chris,
I've been doing some digging and found several different colors and coil lengths of the kickdown spring, so I don't think any one spring one is right or wrong. This car just happen to have what I feel is the original so I just cleaned and repainted it and went with it.

Throttle spring seems to run more towards the grey one like on this car. Both of them I  believed to be original springs were still intact , just the throttle spring was kinda rough.

As far as the neg cable clip, I'm going junkyard rummaging this morning to see if I can find one along with a correct drier bracket.

Those are the horns that were on it for the 27yrs I've owned it.  Lightly used.  I could only get them to work when I turned on the left turn signal.  Fun, but not effective!  :shruggy:

Man I have enough trouble just using the horn on its own... For some reason I think shouting obscenities inside a car works better - Must be a product of a country upbringing.  :shruggy:

Car is looking great! I bet you can hardly wait!
