71 Headlight motor question

My 71 hideaways will not roll up when I turn the lights on.  They will however go down when the lights are turned off.  Anyone know why this might happen?

does the motor shut off as they reach full close? if the motor is adjusted right, it could be as easy as a dirty connection at the plug in.

you can check if you are getting juice from relay to open. Unplug motor and check for 12 volts on harness. One wire must have 12 volts in closed, and then the power switchs to the other wire when opening.

I'm pretty sure the Relay it's stuck, and is not able to switch the point inside to feed the CLOSE wire

Another vote here for the relay. Check all the connections and also check to see if it's wired properly. When i bought my 71 someone had the wiring all screwed up.

Any solution on your problem with the motor?

Check to make sure the wiring connectors are together properly.  Seemed like I had a connection under the dash backwards and it was doing something similar.

I Don't have it fixed yet because I took the whole bumper and grill assembly off to restore.  Will be putting back on soon to test these great theories and I am confident that one of them will work
