The bolts that attach my power steering gearbox to the k member have strange multi-sided heads; do you need a special socket to get these out? If so, where do you find the socket? My other 2 mopars had regular type bolts.

Pics and more specifics would help here. What year? My '68 has some pretty normal 6-point hex heads holding it down.

Are yours a 12-point bolt maybe?

Troy

Let me check the other cars (I thought they were all the same). Those are star bolts and I had a great time getting them tightened.

I remember them being 12 sided also, but don't remember the size offhand.

A simple 12 point socket is the tool, I just don't rmember if it's a 1/2" or 9/16"  :brickwall:

Ah, that's why I've got that extra socket! I believe it's 1/2".

Weird. I must have the wrong kind of bolts. :shruggy: When did they switch to 12 point heads?

This is what Megaparts shows for 64-66, which is what I have. http://www.megapartsusa.com/proddetail.asp?prod=110%2DC8124

Here's a 69 setup that I also have - and the socket.
