Computer to Ipod

Hi you all, hey I have a question here that I thought maybe one of you all might maybe know the answer to if I ask it.  

Say a person has a Iphone, and the other has only a computer. Is there a way that the person with only a computer can send the person with only the Iphone a text message by computer? I would really like to know.  

PS, I meant a Iphone but said Ipod instead

Why not just send an email?

FYI - an iPod is a different device than an iPhone. It pretty much just plays music. An iPod Touch is a web enabled device which can also access email but you can't make calls.

yahoo messenger will let you send im to text messages, i use it every day.

if you know the carrier of the person you want to send a txt message too.

Okay, I just found out, it's not a Iphone, it's a cell phone.. so the question is like the original one is, but just about cell phones is all that can recieve text messages.

there are so many programs and apps out there today you can almost do anything. I have an app on my ipod touch that lets me make free phone calls as long as i have an internet connection.
