I built solid mounts for my 451, and was planning to do the same for the transmission since I have to build the crossmember anyway. But with the trans case being aluminum I just wanted to make sure that this was safe.

There is no purpose to a solid trans mount, it will potentially introduce stress if the body twists.

Alrighty, I was just wondering if it would hurt anything, I guess I got my answer. Thanks  :2thumbs: Now for the next one, Are poly mounts ok, or should I go with a rubber one?

With solid engine mounts I don't think it will matter. If everything else is doing it's job, the transmission mount really shouldn't have much to do but hold up the weight of the transmission and center it in the tunnel. Personally, I went with a stock rubber mount in mine. I have stock rubber mounts with restraining bolts in the driver's side mount.

Solid transmission mounts only work if there is ZERO body/chassis flex. Otherwise the transmission case will flex with the chassis and bind the internal parts. Common result is a busted case/tailhousing or a galled rear support.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Wow, I'm glad that I posted the question on here.... I could have made a HUGE mistake! I am forever grateful to all the people with WAY more knowledge than I have. Thanks guys

Not to hijack,

John is a poly mount safe to use?

The poly mount is stiffer than rubber but as long as it flexes it's OK.
