need to know a lot more than that...

converter stall speed ?    carb ? head flow ? exhaust ? headers / manifolds ?  intake....     compression....

It really all depends on your exact combo - the more detail you can give the better answer we can give.

"What is the best type of cam to buy"

Well, there's two reasons folks ask me this question mainly...

1. SOUND

2. PERFORMANCE

Pick one....

Well, PERFORMANCE usually cost more, doesn't last as long, and drivability is usually down....

SOUND usually last longer (Long duration not huge lift), Cost is cheaper as performance isn't a real concern, and drivability still suffers a bit...

How did you arrive at the 10.5:1 with the Iron 915 Heads ? Is it an actual cc measurement or ballpark guess ?
I ask,
because if you are using Pump Gas, the Compression Ratio is a bit high for even Pump Premium, and your Camshaft selection may want to include some provision to beeld off some Cylinder Pressure and keep it out of the detonation range for easier driving ?

What Cam do you have in there now ?
Any Pinging, running hot, with whatever current camshaft ?

I have the PERFECT Engle street cam for you new in box that I bought directly from Engle 2 months ago that Ron (Firefigher) spec'd out for my 440 10:5 compression build I was planning, also with a 3500 stall and .391 gears (no joke).

Since my engine builder recently discovered I needed a new crank I decided today to do a 505 ci stroker engine and will now be going with a MUCH LARGER cam for my 505 engine.

The cam that I have new in box (never installed) and I have band new top of the line Hughes Lifters also for sale new in box is the hyd. flat tappet Engle K58/60 cam.  Ron, can give you a big  :2thumbs: up on that cam as it is a PROVEN performer for 440 high. performance builds just like yours and I bought it per his recommendation.  The nice thing about this cam is that it can be used with stock 440 rocker arms. You will still need to get new pushrods with this cam which I don't have but I have brand new high quality lifters.

Here you go:

Engle high ramp K series 3 bolt cam (which is stronger than 1 bolt).

K58 is 230*@.050 & .520 lift
K60 is 238*@.050 & .534 lift
Lobe Seperation (Lsa)-110 @ .050

Generally.  The point is that everyone is different.  My first choice is driveability followed by a balance between longevity and performance.
