all good catches so far. yes those appear to be factory style70 seats, but that car originally had a bench seat, not buckets. Also being an XH29 car it never had the upper door pads, which is why you see no holes in the steel except for the door lock and mirror. My favorite is that the car is half sleeping with the headlight motor obviously not working. Sad thing is in 70 you can crank the motor by hand and make them shut, no reason to take pics with the doors half up. i am not one to make fun of others cars, but since it's on ebay for the picking, and it's a dealer who obviously knows nothing or has any emotional attachment to the work done to it, it's fair game.

I noticed the 70 base model stuff rather quickly when looking at the inside shots (did this before looking at the supplied vin information).  Rear panel on 70 XH29s were body colored, with an exception of black around the openings of the holes for the taillights.  It was a column shift car at one time, but converted over to floor shifted auto now....

if the car has been restored  and has been done very well at all, it wouldnt take much to put it back as a nice 70 charger. arent the lines going the wrong direction on the back seat?

Ahhh yes.  This reminds me of when I was looking for a '69 on e-bay to buy.  I would search for "69 charger" and get results that said 68 69 70 charger, and you never which year, or how much of each year the car was made from!

As someone else said, the first thing I noticed was that it appears to be a '70, of which none were used for the TV show, according to the few reliable sources I've communicated with.

There was so much armor all on the tires, I thought they were flat at first!

I'd be very afraid the drive that without a thorough going over.

 I would like to see all you "purist" out there and pick apart your cars.  You see, I also have a 70 Charger like this one, with a colorful past (not a GL clone)...  My 70 Charger, which  I bought back in the 80's has a '68 interior to include the dash and steering column.  Back then I did not know this, however I could care a less about it being "correct"....It's still a fun care and I love it.  To each his own.  20K for a decent 2nd gen is hard to find. I have seen "project" cars here advertise for 20K and they were in pieces and had no engine or trans.

That would be all metal. My car has no upper pads yet either. But the one in the photo, it appears they filled the holes in on the upper area where the upper door pad would clip on though.

Could be, but it's terribly misleading.  They cherry-picked the classic cars in their index and compared them to the Dow and the S&P.  To make it a valid comparison, you'd need to include more than just a handful of highly desirable cars in your index.  I doubt you'd see a positive rate or return on your run of the mill 1974 Polara with a 318.  Then there's the fact that the chart shows 1998 - 2008, rather than 2010.  Convenient that it picked rock bottom for a highly liquid securities market when there's plenty of information for 2009 and 2010.  Not to mention the lack of liquidity in the collector car markets makes real-time valuation a dicey process.

My opinion is that investments are investments, but your car and your house are more related to long-term consumer goods than capital.  If you don't want to drive your car, don't buy it.  If you don't want to live in your house, don't buy it.  I wouldn't buy into either one expecting to make a higher long-term inflation-adjusted rate of return than you'd get in the stock market.

Of course, when you look at what I spent on my car, it would take a minor miracle to even get my money back...

MoparManJim is correct, it is just painted metal on the top of the upper inner door area on base model 70 chargers.  Easy to clean (wax), but prone to scratches when you rest your arm there.  When I first got my XH29C, I thought "Great, now I need to find nice upper door pads from a 70 for it" , but then I noticed that there was no holes for the mounting clips.  Later, I found out that the base model ones were designed to be the cheapest way to get into a 70 charger, with an bare bones advertised list price of $3001.00.  No wander there was no door pads in them. ...

Viper RT- If you want any pictures of mine for reference on XHs, let me know what area you want.  It is not restored yet (previous owner rattlecanned primer over the original paint and then Krylon Red topcoat, comes off with a little light sanding), so I can show you a few tricks on mine if I sand off the primer paint cover a bit.  I can tell you that mine had body color on the recessed rear area, with the exception of black inside the holes for the taillights.....

It's a painted, stamped piece of steel, similar to those used on the "lesser" B-bodies.

It has a different shape than the ones on the Coronet or Belvedere...
