I just wanted to let you all know. Is I might not have net connection. For the last week now I have been having nothing but dame  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: issues with my high speed cable modem here to the net. For the last dang week I have been having my connection drop left and fricking right to a point I am dame tired of it. I called the provider about the issue on more then one account. It's windstream. It seems they don't know how to take care of there issues. When I first got the modem last year around August I think it was. Right from day one I been having issues with the dame thing to a point I sick and tired of it now. When I called in about it, I talked to guys and ladys.. we ran online test's as well, they knew I had a issue with it.. did it get fix? Heck no!! Then back about a month ago with we had that stupid ice storm and rain storm and wind storm. The phone line started to act up majorly bad as well to a point where I can't even use the dang modem on the same phone like I once did (had no issues before with it all like that, only after the storm I have the line issues now). I called that in as well and guess what? it seems they don't want to fix that issue either! :brickwall:. Now when I talk to friends we get a frocking ear full of static all the times depending on the weather. If the wind is blowing there is very good chance there is a crap load of static on the phone.. enough to at points where the phone line gets to much static it self looses connection as well and people always has to call me back over it! Then when we do get talking the static just picks up to a point where we are almost screaming just to hear one another over the dang static that the phone line shouldn't even be having on it. The last time I talk to the lady, we so much static when I called she ask me what my issue was as she couldn't hear me over the static and I basicly screams just to get over the static that, that was what the issue was. Yet nothing got done..

Plus for me to upload clips to facebook or even youtube now, it takes me almost 3 hours! when before it only took me 30 minutes.

Jim -- I never thought I'd hear such harsh dame language out of you. I can tell you're seriously frockin' irritated!!!  :RantExplode:

Cooter

I once asked my computer geek buddy why is it I can watch about 6 YouTube videos and my Hughes net begins to slow way down? His reply was what he has on his license plate..."Your being a web hog"..They cut my bandwidth or whatever, after just 6 videos...I complained about it, but I got some "Indian" accent on the other end from India telling me I used up all my bandwidth for the month already?? WTF?

Few things.

The DSL "line" is the same line that your home phone uses. It just has a filter put on it to separate analog phone and DSL.

So if there is crackling in the phone your DSL isnt going to work correctly.

The first step is to get the phone company to fix the line. (The DSL company "rents" the line from them but in most cases has nothing to do with physical connection)

I suspect once the line is fixed your problems will go away.

Another thing to check out is the phone lines in the house.

The place I used to live had 5 phone lines connected. Only one of which I knew where it went to.
I disconnected the others and it got better.

Also the filters..........

Some companys use a box filter that splits signal outside.
Others use several that go on each phone in the house.

If yours is the second style... make sure each phone has a filter.

Can't be the phone lines in the house, already replace them afew weeks back. Still got the issue, must be the phone line outside. The box I have is outside on a small pole, then there is another even smaller one on the night light pole.

Yea Frank, it is bud. Try uploading something and get to like 98% done and wam looses connection and have to start all over on the upload. Pressly if the upload is going to take say 3hours to do. I been a clam follow up until last week well going on a week when a issue took place on Facebook with a so called friend tried to shone his wrong doings over onto me both on the his wall and through PMs and the net connection started to drop left and right Tuesday evening also with the modem. Then the connection just kapt getting wrost, I can be doing something and wam the connection just up's and drops like that and then it can be out for hours at times before coming online again.

Okay, let me explain. Last summer, you remember I was having issues with the net and kapt only at times loosing connection? Well around August I think itr was the first modem box went flat out on me, no sigh no warning at all bro. just flat out on me over night. So I had to call them up, they tell me "oh no it's not the box, it must be your computer phone line" I tell the lady, "mam, I am talking on the only PHONE LINE in the house, the very same one the cable DSL runs on as well.. lady if this line was infact like you say the issue... I wouldn't be talking with you right now on it" and then she said "oh, you do have a point there, i'll get someone out there asap then" I said okay to her and thank her for it. Well we had entered the weekend so I had to wait all f-ing weekend long. That following week a guy came out ran a check, the line was okay, so he gave me the new modem and told me go and try it out.. the box worked fine. I handed him the old modem.. he said that issue was known to happen at times as in for them to just got out on you. He check the service and the phone was working great, no issue at all. I had him check it when he was here. Well he left, the next day wam the box started to act up on me. I called them up to see if they was having any issues on there end maybe an outage or something. Nothing well as I was talking with them the box started to work fine again. Well about aweek later it started acting up again, soon as I got them on the phone the box would work fine  :brickwall:, well one evening I called them up about the issue as I was tick. While talking to the guy on the phone (nice guy by the way) the phone went dead (cordless) so I grab the land line phone and hook it up he called back, ask me what happen I told him, he understooded and we got back to business about the modem well not even 5 mninutes maybe on the land line phone, the phone went dead again! On a land line phone at that. He called me back again and I told him that time I had no idea what had happen because that time we was on land line phones and not the cordless. He told me he was going to file a report on that then because it should have happen, he no longer said that the phone went dead once again! came right back on. He called me back and we started running online test's for the modem to see what the issue of that was. We found some stuff out, for some reason my modem I guess wasn't at all getting the right feed it should have been getting because each time we ran the test (we did 3 test's) and they came back different each time and below the mark of where they should have been at. He said he was going to file a report about it, he was also shock to hear about the modem acting up sense it was fairly a new one at that. I told him I might have by luck gotten a bad one in the bunch or something. they didn't do anything about it. I went on working with it and at times loosing connections and always getting act to vaify my connection when I infact can't when only they can do that! I called them up on more then once about the dang issue. Then I started to get the static here and there and mostly when we have wind storms and rain. Then around  mid Feb just after we had that one hard ice storm I think it was the static really hit the dang line hard. To a point I loose connection while on the phone! or it got so bad that me and the other person on the phone hard to littery yell across the phone at each other just to get over the dang static as it was and is that bad at times! When I took and called the company back up and the lady answered and ask me what the issue was and when I said it she said "sorry sir, I can't hear you over that statis in the line, what did you say the issue was?" and I said "mam, that static is the dang issue!!" we was almost yelling just to hear each other it was that bad and then at one monute it just up and drop out of the line and  ends yelling at each other  and cuaght our selfs when we notice the static was gone. I told the lady I was sorry for yelling and she did the same.. and said that static wasn't good at all. This was like a month back maybe less. Then last week the connection seem to got worst with the modem, and the static is now back and the weather is nice now also. But when I asked for maybe a new modem, I keep getting told this one should be okay and it shouldn't be the modem acting up. Well this week I want to know what the issue is and where at as I want it fix once and for all. An at times during the evenings the connection will just up and drop and not come back on for maybe afew hours at at time. :brickwall:

Now, to answer your questions bud, no, they didn't offer me credit or anything. Yes I have been going through crap for the last 6 months like you said.

That is where I am thinking my issue lays at also, on the dang pole outside. Because i replace all phones and even the phone on the house here so it's all new stuff out to the box. It lays between the modem now or the out side box and line.

Maybe some of my online friends on here that are my friends might.. that's why. I know if a friend of mine just dropped off for afew days, I would be wondering if he/she is okay or not as to why they wasn't online for when they mostly are. But I do like to thank you how ever for expression your opinion though.

Well, maybe not. I just looked through your old posts and the last time you were on before yesterday was March 15 so you didn't post on the 16th, 17th and 18th. Are you worried that poor attendance with affect your grades? Maybe Troy can assign you some extra credit projects the next time your DSL acts up so you won't fall behind.
