OK so my 67 has the original leaf springs and they are getting tired.

I plan on replacing them but the only ones that I have been able to locate are the heavy duty springs. They're stiffer. My question is, how much stiffer a ride would I get from these? Would it be that noticable? Year one decribes the ride as "harsh".

Which of the following would you recommend:

1. Go with the hemi springs
2. Go to the local spring shop and have a new set fabricated to match the factory specs.
3. Find a shop to rework the current springs. Supposedly, I've been told that these can be reworked back to original spec. I have my doubts.

I have a set of the "Hemi" or HD style ones in my 67 and I love them.  The ride is firm but the handling is SOOOO much better.  However, what I like may not suit you.  I also like the sound of headers and love driving with the windows down even in the cooler weather and hearing the wind rush by.
I probably wouldn't describe the ride as harsh, but that's me.  What style of driving do you intend to do and what do you like to do with the car?

It's generally a cruise night car. I think I put 500 miles on it last year.

I wouldn't describe the ride as any worse than your Dakota and maybe better (maybe).  If you get a chance, go for a ride with someone who has a 68 to 71 Road Runner or a 68 70 Super Bee or any GTX or RT Dodge made before 72.  They should all have the HD suspension in them and ride quality will be similar.

you could get a new set from Espo spring also , I like the ride with HD springs

Eaton is a good source too.  That's where I got mine from but I was able to go and pick them up at their shop.  I received a letter from them a few days ago following up on my purchase from September so to date I am happy with their customer service as well.

I purchased a HD set of springs for my 67.  Don't know about the ride since I am in the middle of working on the car.  I took the original set in and had them massaged back to life.  Two sets of springs are better than one.  I can always change back to the originals if I don't like the HD springs.

Is "stance" also a consideration? Go to a spring shop, if so. You can jack the rear up to the height you want and tell them them to make it so. They'll be able to give you examples of ride "feel" from there.
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.
But before the General Lee there was me - Headrope.

Thanks guys. I'll be shopping for a spring shop in the spring and we'll go that route and see what they say.

Spring...please.
