Can someone tell me the length of a late B-Body ( 1973 and up) LCA from the center of the Torsion bar socket to the center of the ball joint hole?
I'm from Cuda-Challenger.com and am looking at options for my suspension? I was reading the April 2011 issue of Mopar Action and Firm Feel has a kit  for A.B and E-Bodies that uses late B-Body LCA's so I was just curious as to the length?
Thanks Brad  :2thumbs:

It's right around 13 inches I think.

Thanks, I had heard it was about an 1" longer than the older B,E-Body LCA? Do you have one to measure accurately?

That 13" number I gave is not exact.  I'm pulling it from memory and it was from a 2nd-gen.

OK Thanks Bigs! :2thumbs: That helps! Looks like it's not gonna work in a E-body street car , too long. Unless maybe  if one used custom offset rims.

Thanks Mike I think E-body are 12.8 long center to center.

Wow, then my recollection was pretty close after all.  The 70-74 E-bodies had the same LCA dimensions as the B-bodies up through 1972.  I'm not sure about the later 3rd-gens (with the rubber-isolated front subframes) but it's possibly the same.

Ya B-Body's up to 72 ( 71-72 are exactly the same) and E-Bodys are the same except for sway bar tabs. I'm told A-Bodys are 3/16 longer( I have a set being shipped to me) and the late B-Body 73 and up are longer still at 14"
( thanks Bigs!) all you need to do is use the correct pivot pin for the chassis used.

What was the reason for the growing LCA length on the later B-bodies?

I would guess to improve the suspension geometry? As time went on I suspect the manufacturers realized handling was becoming more important? Build a better mouse trap sort of thing?

Mike DC

Well, there is the spindle difference in the later B-bodies that we encounter when swapping for disc brake retrofits.  Maybe it's to counter that change.  And the tires were probably getting wider on average in the later 70s, which would affect the scrub radius if the kingpin angle didn't change accordingly.

Ya I know they are 3/8 taller? Which accounts for the rubber spacer in the k-frame I guess ?
