trying to find a trw pump

hi

my superbee came with a trw pump . it doesn't work very well. i'd like to replace it with a new trw power steering pump  but all i find are federal and saginaw pumps. can anybody help. thanks

i seen that first one on ebay but it's got no pulley. i looked at mine and i don't see how that pulley can come off . doesn't anybody sell a rebuilt ?

napa has them listed, with pulley, for about $70-$80 if i recall (their website is acting weird right now, so I can't give you a direct link). you might have to search under a few different years/models to find it, but I have seen saginaw, federal, and TRW models listed there--I bought a seal kit for my TRW from them a few months ago.

i went to the local parts store and they had a listing for the federal pump but not the trw . i've had no luck with power steering pumps

Just make damn sure you know exactly which pump you have before turning it in to some 19-year-old kid at Pep Boys for a core charge because if you turn it in thinking it's a TRW and they hand you a rebuilt Federal to replace it with (for example) your original pump goes bye-bye and you're hosed. If it were me I would just send it off to Steer and Gear and have them rebuild it. It will cost you more but if there's one thing I've learned doing my restoration, spending more money to have things done right is 9 times out of 10 going to be a lot cheaper than spending $50 and screwing yourself royal with some unforeseen problem.

And if it's a TRW the pulley is pressed on so you need to get a puller. Where I live Autozone has loaner tools you can get for free (with a deposit) and that's where I got the puller set I needed to get the pulley off. And when you go to press the pulley back on make sure you support the back of the shaft or you'll shove the guts right out of the pump.
