As most of you already know, I traded my former '70 six pack Charger R/T to Pete for his '69 Charger 500. He was in the process of converting it to a Daytona when we made the trade, hence the "Daytona" stripe. One of the benchmarks I wanted to accomplish was getting the motor started. Once there, then I could start buttoning up things here and there, i.e alternator, oem valve covers, etc. Once there, then I'm going to put the tranny to the test, then brakes, etc... You get the picture...  Oh yeah... Julie, my 4 year old, named the 500 "Bubblebee" because of the yellow color with black bubblebee stripe.

Well,,,, I finally got things squared away with the ignition to fire her up. And boy, did she fire up, even after being dormant for nearly two years I believe. I installed the coil and distributor off the Daytona since I know they work, then charged up the battery. I'll use a remote hand-held starter switch since I have a neutral safety switch harness issue (don't have one on the car yet, hence the issue  :icon_smile_big: ). The carb (4618S) is the one that used to be on the Daytona. Well, boy, she fired right up!!!!  No timing, no adjustments, just grude throwing it all together and see what happens... Man, I'm excited about this... Now, I have two running Aeros... Notice, I didn't say "driving"...  :icon_smile_big:

Nope, I'll leave it on for now, but eventually I'll restore it to the original Y2 with a black "500" stripe. Since I already have an original Daytona, don't need another... Yeap, I can't believe how smooth the sucker runs......

Come on, Troy, who doesn't need a second Daytona. ;D Good job though, and I'd keep it as a 500 too.  :2thumbs:

I think a 500 and a Daytona would be nicer than 2 Daytona's.  Looking good.  :2thumbs:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

It would be pretty nice to have both of the Dodge Aero cars, but I gotta say that 2 Daytona's would be nicer than having 6 Charger 500's. But that is my opinion. So to me 2 Daytona's trumps one of each by a lot.

Danny, does this picture count? They both "say" Daytona.   :icon_smile_big:   It's just that the Y2's wings have been clipped.........

PS: One of these days I'm going to shot that taillamp panel on the V2 the proper black.........

My Wing was clipped too. :'(

Sort of counts. But not quite.

Steve you clipped your own wing though. I knew when you went through with it that it would only be a matter of time and you'd see that you'd rather have the Daytona than the C500.

I hear you Danny, but when it actually happened it wasnt by choice. As you know for quite awhile I wanted a Hemi C500 because a Hemi 69 was always my favorite car. Yes I made a mistake getting rid of my car but then again my back was against the wall.:brickwall:

Well, I seemed to have either a vacuum leak or my AVS needed a kit for she wouldn't stay running. Well, it was cheaper for me to kit an intake gasket versus a carb kit, so I through on my six pack set up......  :icon_smile_big:

Doesn't look pretty, but what the heck......... I'm going to install a set of OEM '69 valve covers for sure....  I'll try to get her started tomorrow. I have the fuel line to separator to hook up thus far along with the coil and such........

Wow.. I put in the Pertronix Ignitor Kit Mike sent me and I could tell right off the bat the difference in spark/performance. Simple and the performance advance seems to be great. Now, I'll just hide the wires some how.

Progress is always fun -  my projects have all stalled due to 28 units this semester at college and a full time government job...      but - I did manage to get a complete 1969 six pack set up for my Road Runner....      So - Assuming It'll take me 18 months to finish both cars - I'll be 25 years old, have a 68 Hemi Charger and a 69 Six Pack Road Runner...       :yesnod:

I think i'm doing ok for 25 years old.

Car sounds good!   Cant wait to get my 6bbl engine running.

update: 10/19/2011:
OK, I finally was able to get the car in a situation where I can try engaging the transmission in "Bubblebee", my '69 Charger 500. Everything, for the most part preliminarily, seems to be working fine. I got the emergency brake to work. That way, I could stop the rear wheels from turning so I could get the car to park. One day, I'm going to fix that hug hole in the front floor pan so I can get the gear-selector setup/center console installed and secure. So, the next major project will be the hydraulic brake system and the floorboard. The rear is a 4.10 Dana with a spool.
