When you talk about a Hemi car...

Do you find you refer to it as a Hemi Charger or Hemi Road Runner or Hemi whatever as though it were all one word?  Or do you still tend to just call the car by it's model and occasionally add the Hemi prefix if at all?
Because I noticed that I tend to follow the one word trend.  I don't think of a Challenger with a Hemi, I think Hemi-Challenger.

yep  Hemi charger !    but something along the lines  of !!   look at that hemi charger ! original  J code   or Hemi challenger original R code  if i know it not a clone  or something :yesnod:   :scratchchin: :popcrn:

Yes, personally the Hemi defines the car initially, the body type is secondary. And for me owning a Hemi anything is more important than what type of car it is. Other opinions may vary!

Of course, one complete phrase, Hemi Road Runner.  :D

Back when I was in High School in the late 80s there was a kid who dropped out in grade 11 because he got a job as a pipe fitter making decent cash. About 6 months after leaving school I heard he bought a Hemi Road Runner and always it was referred to as such. Never the kid who bought a Road Runner with a Hemi but rather the kid with the Hemi Road Runner.......yep, even back then it defined the car first.

It depends on the situation. At the track, it's a Charger with a V-8!  :D

Anywhere else it's a Hemi Charger.

The only thing that bugs me is calling a Charger an original Hemi car only to find out it has a 383 now. Yeah, yeah, production numbers, J code, whatever. The original engine was split in half and is now mooring a boat at the lake. With a wedge head big block, (or small block for that matter) it's not a hemi car anymore.
Speed\'s expensive, how fast do you want to go?

I think the "HemiCuda" made me always say Hemicharger etc.

I guess I'll add that the Brand X folks sort of try to do it: 396 Chevelle, 427 Vette, 302 Mustang. X is still X. :hah:

Hmm, that's an interesting point.  I don't tend to do it so much with brand X cars and I sure don't do it in the sense of 383 Cahrger or 440 Cuda.  I may on occasion to make an engine point but even if I do I still think of it as two separate things.  I find myself referring to Hemi cars as a single word as though a Hemi Charger were a completely different car than a Charger RT with a 440.

charge69

I, sometimes refer to mine as a Charger R/T and sometimes refer to it as a Hemi Charger.  Kinda depends on the crowd and whether they know it is a R/T already! ;D   That said, everyone old enough to know it from the old days always remembers the old Hemicars, no matter what brand and respects it's heritage.

Hmm I guess I do...tri-Power 'Vettes/GTO's, LS6 Chevelle, Cobra Jet Mustang, Ram Air Judges. Maybe we do it to emphasize a low production engine.... :shruggy:

I would say , I refer to my friend Dave's Hemi Cuda and Hemi Road Runner.

I refer to it as a Charger equipped with the "easy spark-plug access" option.  :icon_smile_big:

Depends on if you're talking to a gearhead or a dirty, bike-riding hippie. You might as well say HemiCharger if you have a HemiCharger because that saves you the annoyance of the first question some non-car boob is going to ask you after you tell him you own a Charger. "Duz it got a Hemi?"

In fact, just think of all the time and hassle you'd save yourself if you said "I own a HemiCharger" every time the topic came up, even if you don't have a Hemi. Most of the non-car boobs don't know the difference anyway and it takes too much time and effort to explain it to them when they ask.

FJ5WING

amazing how many times I get asked if the cars have HEMI's... :shruggy:
wingless now, but still around.

hemigeno

I used to refer to my (now green) car as a HemiCharger all the time - especially when I first owned it, and still do on occasion.  After a few years of ownership, I found myself referring to it more as "The R/T" more and more, even when talking with people that don't know me or the cars very well.

Part of what may have broke the habit for me is all these years of parts scrounging.  Prices are subject to escalation when you have a HemiCharger  ::)

I call whatever car that has a Hemi, a "Hemi-Charger, Hemi-Cuda," etc. Same goes for people like my friend's cousin Geno who we call simply Geno because he drives a 6 cylinder, & HemiGeno here on the site who drives a Hemi Charger.   :D

And I bet most don't own one.

Six Barrel does sound like a lot more than a six pack though.   :scratchchin:

What would you rather have a six pack of beer or 6 barrels of beer?

To me, six barrel sounds like you have a very modified shotgun (3 two barrel shotguns welded together)....

I am sure back in the day there were references to some drunk drivers being in the six-pack cars...

Then, by that reasoning, why would a PLYMOUTH car be called an "8 Barrel" instead of Hemi anything???

I tend to do the same on Max Wedge cars. Although, I usually don't even say what the car is. I just say '63 Max Wedge and leave it at that.
