What's the casting number?

I think small blocks have a bolt hole in the top center.

Here is a 69 B-Block cast iron b-hsg.

maxwellwedge

And a 70 Small block b-hsg.

I assume you know that's set up as an "E" body 4 speed right now?

Shifter position on the tailshaft mounting boss....E-Bodies were bolted on at the back - The B-Bodies used the forward boss.

Which would also mean different length rods.....no jokes please.

Hemidog

This is a neat picture.

I have a "B" Body shifter Adapter if you wanna swap that "E" body one for it....I could use another spare....

I don't think I have ALL of the B-Body shifter rods and "Feet" (Levers for the trans)...I might have some of the shifter rods...I know I got a shifter aluminum adapter that's good...You will need to swap everything but the shifter itself..MAKE sure you have the dual shifter patterns on that tailshaft..

The "B" body one is the Three bolt pattern up next to the trans as shown in the picture above...

If it has the rear location on it it must have the front boss as well. The rear is E-Body (and 71 up B-Body I think). That dual boss tail shaft didn't exist before the 70 model year....no E-Bodies yet.

I don't know what your Bell is off of - I can't find that casting number anywhere.

hopefulley between the welded on one and the one i found in my shed  , one of the bell housings will work ?
Is there a 10 inch clutch and an 11 inch clutch bell housing ?  Or Will they fit both clutches ?

The one you want for a 70 B-Body big block is the aluminum -  casting #2892513. 70-up used the 10-1/2" clutch, 69 (cast iron) used the 11" (10.95") clutch. A 10-1/2"clutch will work as long as it is paired with the matching pressure plate and flywheel. I am not sure if the pivot and fork are in the same locations though.

Cooter

Remember as a rule of thumb when running either a 10 1/2" or 11" set up,, try and run the complete set up..This means if you don't have the pivot for the clutch fork, clutch fork itself, bell, AND clutch set, you need to run whichever set up is complete...

I personally haven't seen the need to run the heavier 11" set up..I have had pretty good luck with the 10 1/2" unit...Plus, the 10 1/2" unit is lighter...

Maxwell is on track. The dual pattern tail shaft means it is a 1970+ unit for ALL E and B body cars. In 1970, front mount is used for B-body cars, and the rear mount was used for E-bodies. The dual mount tailshaft  is also correct or all E-bodies and 71-74 B-body.

1. So, the trans is fine, you just need the right shifter rods.

2. You probably have the short E-body / 71-74 B- body shifter handle.

3. And, you need to sell me the shifter handle and rods for my 72 Roadrunner project   :smilielol:
