Why is the new Pentastar v6 going to have 305HP for the Challenger and only 292HP for the Charger?I have a 2010 SXT Charger with 250HP and would buy the 2011 Charger if was going to have 305HP.

  Because the camaro & mustang have similiar HP levels for the V6's offered would be my guess. As for the charger my  and only a guess would be it has a less agressive tune for a bit better gas mileage. HP levels DO effect insurance so it might be that also, someone else may chime in with more info.

My first guess was going to say that the two cars have different exhaust pipe lengths but then I thought the two car were built on the same chassis so that can't be it.  Anybody got any other thoughts?

My guess would be that the challenger is a true modern day muscle car and we all know the charger is a 300 family car re-named to charger with more power.  Kind of like Ford putting a V8 in the pinto wagon and changing the name to Mustang...

I think its pretty much what greenpigs said people who have the V6 in the Charger don't care as much about performance unlike the people who go with the V8.The people with the V6 care more about it being a family car then a tire roaster.
