My '69 got silly again....I put the lights on and everything works except the headlights. I wiggle the connection block on the firewall and they go on. Obviously I have a loose connection or my guess is they need a good cleaning to regain contact.

Any suggestions for cleaning the "female" side? The male side is pretty easy to get at with a file or wire brusg, but I'm not sure how to attach the femail side.

Weekend project!

Thanks!

Hi Bill,
There was a thread in this section recently addressing how to clean contacts. The guy mixed a vinagar/water solution and used a tooth brush to clean the firewall block. Run a search and you should run across the thread. Good luck and let us know how you fared.

And you can use the leftovers for your salad!  ;)

Okay maybe I did it wrong.....vinegar and salt?

I made a test batch before I took my car apart. I let the cooroded part soak for 15 minutes and did not notice  any real difference.

I did some reading on line about baking soda....anyone with luck on that or should I stick with the "salad options?"

I used a stainless etching/pickling acid a few times and it worked out real great. It did'nt eat the copper but only the green oxide residue.....
