Has anyone done this? I've been reading up on a lot of articles. and think this is the way to get a bigger bang out of my small block. Right now It's running stock heads <587 i think it is> on a 73 360. and I want it to breath more.

I understand what needs to be changed over, I'm looking to hear from people who have done this.

the bottem end is built nice, .030 over, keith black flat tops, zero decked and Crane 278 cam.

if you are reffering to the Magnum heads on an LA block it can be done , you will need AMC lifters & hollow pushrods to oil the rockers & valves
personally I would just do a set of the 308 LA castings & bolt those on instead , good power gain & a lot less work to do the swap

The swap isn't as hard as you'd think.  Mopar Performance is now selling a swap kit to go along with the heads.  BTW, the stock replacement head is now the big valve R/T heads that are drilled for the older style intake.  In my opinion that is the way to go.  they add 20HP over the old Magnum heads, which were already better than the older LA style heads anyway. :yesnod:

I'm actually thinking of getting a set so I can have a Magnum Sixpack or going with the Edelbrock EFI setup.

I did see them, but i'm looking at cost as well, I can't afford a brand new setup. I just want to add a little more punch to the block. I also have to have some trannie work done. The 904 didn't last more then a year. I killed it ;)

you will need a new intake, lifters, pushrods, rocker arms, & head bolts....
1968 Dodge Charger - 6.1L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.55 Sure Grip

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip

1964 Dodge Polara 500 - 440 / 4-speed / 3.91 Sure Grip

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye - 340 / A-518 / 3.23 Sure Grip

Bolt on a set of Edelbrock heads.   :2thumbs:

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

not the set of Eddys I saw , badly core shifted & still not stopped by quailty control

The 308 heads are on 87-92 truck 360s , I have dyno proved 40 RWHP gain using them [ported of course]

I wouldn't recommend the aluminum magnum heads though.   After a long conversation with Troy Brea of Westoaks Dodge in CA, he told me about several problems with those heads that need extra machining through his own experience.   That is why they no longer offer those heads, but as for the cast iron magnums, they simply cannot be beat for the price.

Magnum= Better flow, smaller combustion chamber, better valve cover set up, and a lighter valve train with a standard 1.6 rocker ratio.
