I plan to use this motor in my 70 road runner if it will clean up

is there a way to tell what it came out of  ?
or maybe it would fit date wise better in my charger 500  ?

Other than E-Bodies what else came out of Hamtramck in 1970 with a 440 HP?
Maybe Barry can chime in here....maybe Barry knows the VIN as well.

moparstuart

my brother had a buddy with a 70 challenger  440+6 car , that they put a built 426 wedge motor in it ?

could this be that cars original motor  ???

It just might be.....Is that car still alive?

Looks to me like that's got a build date of 8-14-68....The "C" on the pad indicates this as well...Don't think that's a 1970 Engine..

The block casting date does look like it might be in 68, but is likely 69...

The ID pad says:

F440

9  20  HP2

So, a 1970 HP engine built on Sept 20, 1969...  :shruggy:

Damn, totally missed that "F" there...I don't think the "9" and "20" indicate date as built though...

The 9 and 20 do indicate the month and day of assembly.

The example in the 1970 Challenger service manual is for a Hemi, which varies slightly on the stampings...

Without even reading the top pad except for the HP the "0B" in the VIN was plenty.

68RED4SPEED

If they start midle of July so theres no problem if its built September 20 1969.

Here are the numbers off of my Oct 12, 69 SPD   6BBL 'Cuda

Cooter

So this engine would be built around Sept. the 4th? Damn, I knew there was a reason I didn't follow the numbers game...Now what happens when there ISN'T a build date on the pad??Then what? I've got a few blocks that I don't remember seeing that build date on...
