Saw True Grit last night.  :2thumbs:  .........No disrespect to the Duke of course.

My 10-year old daughter saw the original last night - she thought it was great. "Mighty bold talk for a one-eyed fat man"  She is still laughing.

     I feel old. I saw the original in a theatre when it first came out with Kim Darby and the guy who had the eye patch.

Saw the remake today. I thought it was good. The wife and I took our 13 and 14 year old daughter's along. They liked it.

I've read that the remake stays more true to the original novel than the John Wayne movie version did.  The Wayne/Bridges role is a bit smaller and the movie is more focused on the girl.  Many of the dialogue exchanges are lifted directly from the book this time.
