I suppose they need to get people thinking about how they are going to legitimize those Dynacorn shells if they come through.  Also makes it easier for those "reskinning" jobs as some like to refer to them. ::)

They're still pop rivets. Factory rivets don't have the "nail" stuck in the middle of them. These are nothing new. These can easily be reproduced with a small triangle file and a can of black spray paint on a run of the mill pop rivet.  :Twocents:

I always wondered about these rivets & the negative attention they'd get, but I feel they are okay. In some cases removing a tag from the dash frame would be a necessity, like if there was rust damage to the dash frame or pad. When I had my '71 Barracuda with a cracked dash, I bought a used dash core because Just Dashes made it clear they would remove the VIN tag & destroy it when you sent the dash to be redone. I sold the car before I ever got that far, but sold it along with the core & explained to the buyer why.

I think the VIN rivets are in a similar category as certain reproduced components on the Hemi cars, like torque boxes. They're unique to a Hemi car & could be used to deceive a potential buyer if it was a car that had a VIN tag swap done to create a fake one. How far can you take the argument as to whether reproducing a part is a good idea or not? Making the tag is an obvious illegal move, but everything else can be in a gray area depending on who the buyer is & what car they are selling.

ACUDANUT

Those VIN rivets are too long to work on a dash.  The dash frame is ....What 1/8 thick...Those rivets look almost a full inch....No I am not measuring the "nail" portion either. :Twocents:
