the problem isn't the person complaining its the total lack of respect for your fellow neighbors to have an all night party in the 1st place, either go out to a lake or country crossroads with a bonfire or use a banquet hall.  what makes them think you want to have a party at 1am when you have to go to work the next day??

Absoulutely correct. I had to make a "house call" on Monday night to make neighbours/rental in the next street over the back stop the fireworks and music at midnight. I was pretty annoyed, it woke us up and there are lots of kids in our street and it has happend a few times in the last few weeks. Fortunately after a bit of flaming about consideration they turned it down. Good, that was what I was after. Wasnt looking for a scene but just wanted it off . But yeah in hindsight it could have gone pearshaped, I had a 4D cell maglite and workboots but I was by myself, so maybe I call noise control next time.

You did the right thing. I  have a 2nd weekend home on a lake & this past summer the neighbor's kids (early 20's) from 2 doors down had the place to themselves for the weekend, and naturally, they were partying it up. Now, no one likes fireworks more than me, but continually shooting them off at 11:30 at night and listening to them echo around the lake is just plain rude. Very few have a/c & most everyone sleeps with their windows open and I'm surethat I wasn't the only one being kept awake. So, I got up, got dressed and went over there & blasted them. There were about 20 of them & I don't know which one was the owner's kid but when one of them started giving me some lip, I sitated that the homeowners want to know when you kids are being out of line & I threatened to call them up. It was then that the owner's kid appeared and said that he was sorry and they'd be quiet. My wife said that I was lucky that they didn't come after me and maybe she was right, but it did get them to quiet down.

Has anybody actually been assaulted at a party (somebody else's) because they went to ask that it be turned down? The closest I got was to be told something rude and was asked to leave. Of course, then I called the sheriff and it got shut down instead of quieted down. They made some arrests for outstanding warrants too, so the next time it got loud they were much more polite and agreeable.

Maybe thats why they stopped, I noticed the Ladies were staring harder than usual    , quite a warm night tho...    nah jeans and t shirt as well
