I know you guys have Chevies/Fords in your closets. What do you prefer?

My Charger is hybrid, it runs on gas and on tears of ricers
2001 Ram 2500 CTD
1993 Mazda MX-3 GS SE
1995 Ford Cobra SVT#2722

vancamp

i like certain models of most all of them, however i like more more mopars than any of the others combined, but if mopars werent around i would probaly be into fords and pontiacs.

Iceyone

I'm kinda liking the new V-6 Mustang. That may very well be my next car. I've had 3 Pontiacs in a row and ALL have had problems way before they should have. I still like 68-72 Chevelles but will never own anything new from GM again.

I do own a 1930 Chevy 4-door sedan. I'm keeping it stock, motor and all.
68 Charger
70 Super Bee
11 SRT8 Challenger
30 Chevy Universal

Troy

I recently sold my Tahoe. I still have my 70 Mach 1. If I had cash in my pocket I'd probably have a newer (and preferably older) Mustang as well. I like the new Camaro too. I'd personally have the new Mustang or Camaro than any current vehicle produced by Chrysler. Not very practical though and I have a garage full of toys already.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

If I was to take on another project besides a Mopar....would probably be a late 60s early 70s GTO. I sorta dig old Pontiacs.

Jason

Daytona R/T SE

Other than my Mopars, I've had several Fords, and few Pontiacs I really liked, I wouldn't mind an old Cadillac, Lincoln or Mercury sometime down the road...  The only Chevrolets I've ever really liked were the few I've actually seen on fire...

squeakfinder

On newer vehicles it doesn't matter to me. But I've owned and still own a 70's era fullsize Chevy Blazer and a pickup truck.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

Pontiac has always been my 2nd. But I'm open to things .... if the price was right...

I have owned more mopars than anything. I have owned some of allbut will never own a foreign car. If I were to have a project car other than mopar it would have to be something not so common. A cobra torino or mid 30 GM product.

maxwellwedge

Ford's don't have enough power to pull the skin off of rice pudding. Everyone I have had (both Bosses) or driven has a been a pant-load.

They do look sharp though - just no Wheaties.

The 2 Chevy's I have will give any of my Mopars (my faves by a mile - nothing can replace a Mope) a good run.

Manfred318

If I had to pick something besides a MoPar I would probably go with a Pontiac, Olds, or Caddy. Ive always liked those too. If were talking cars any ways. If it were anything else I would go with an International. We have had several Scouts over the years and I would love to have another one in the near future.

Current MoPars:
1968 Charger. 318 Out of commission:(
1975 Dart Swinger. 225 Pops daily ride.
1990 Dodge Ram. 360FI My daily ride.
2007 Magnum R/T. 5.7 Family wagon.

Ghoste

If I were forced to pick something else it would be a Ford.  There seem to be so many of those stupid things around here that it wouldn't be too hard or overly expensive to find a good Cobra Jet car.  I am a bit of a closet Pontiac fan but it'd be easier and cheaper for me to go Ford.

Maybe both............

This is the next rust bucket I'm doing.  It's in the shop apart, just have to cut it apart and weld it back together.

Cooter

Yeah, I've had my share of Brand Xer's..
1. Mustang GT 1985
2. 1969 Chevelle SS 396, 4-speed
3. 1982 Z28 Camaro T-top
4. 1970 Ford maverick- - Still have set up for 460/C6 8.8 4.30 gear

If you got the money, you can make 'em all run..

Until I saw the Mopar light in the promised land I've always liked and had good luck with chevys. My GM soft spot is Chevelles, we restored one a few years back to sell so we could buy the Charger. If I could afford another toy its would be a 69 SS 396 4spd of course I'd settle for a 1970 SS454 LS6 (?).
FLY NAVY/Marine Corps or take the bus!

Right off the top: Discounting Mopars or a '69 GTX in triple Blk?..
To replace the R/T I'd probably want a '70 SS Monte Carlo,.. or some other GM Personal Luxury, Like a early GS Riviera nailhead or Grand Prix SJ.
Ford didn't really make anything I'd want in the garage with the exception of the Shelby's up to '68, I never liked the '69s up. My Fav. is the '68/9 GT 500.
I'd concider an AMX if it was an early one. After '70 all the Cars were iffy in power and styling..
I'd like a Trans Am perhaps, a '70 would be my Preference.

Cooter

I like this one built from a late model mustang...Now THIS is retro!

That is sharp looking car.
Myself I had 99 S10 truck, being 2wd in WA-it had to go. Now I have 95 Cobra. Definitely open to other brand names.

If I couldn't have a Mopar, it would be a 66/67 Chevelle or 66/67 GTO.  A 39/40 Willys, if I could afford it!

Tilar

Depends.... If you're talking new it would be Ford hands down. If you're talking old muscle, probably a Camaro, Chevelle or GTO.  Any farther than that would be a 55 Tbird or a 49 or 50 Merc.

chargerboy69

Old, I would take another Trans Am ( have owned roughly 8 so far). Mid 80's 5.0 Mustang. Cyclone or Talledega. I love the Chevelles from 66-69. 68 Shelby Mustang. And would like to have a 67 Buick Riviera.

New, a new Mustang hands down, and a new F-450. Chevy, the Camaros are sharp, maybe a new Duramax GMC truck.  Chrysler, not so much.  The Challenger is nice, but in my opinion not even close to a newer Mustang. A Pontiac G8, those are sweet.

You know your colors! It is one of those colors guys and gals like. Having said that, it sat at the dealership for a year until it sold.....the times they were a changin fast.

I sold an Astro Blue hard top to get the rag.

mikesbbody

There are a lot of Ford and GM Car's I like but, they just do do it for me the same as a Mopar does so I have to say if I couldn't own a Mopar I probably wouldn't be in the old car Hobby (why settle for 2nd best?)

earthquake68

Nova, Chevelle, Corvette, Mustang, Torino GT, Fairlane, Challenger, Coronet, Charger, 'Cuda. They all have something cool to offer.
Speed\'s expensive, how fast do you want to go?

Road Dog

My second choice was a 64 Ford Galaxie 500.
If your wheels ain't spinn'n you ain't got no traction.

Crikeys maxwellwedge! Hard for my old eyes to see the fender emblem but is that the "real Deal" 1970 450-500hp SS454 LS6? You can't touch originals for well over $100k+. That color is unfamiliar to me but its gorgeous. I'm lucky enough to have my "first choice" car but that would be my second. Stunning!!! :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:
FLY NAVY/Marine Corps or take the bus!

Old Moparz

One car I've always wanted is a Lincoln ragtop with suicide doors. I'll probably get one one day, but it'll be a driver that I don't have to touch. Second choice would be a '55 Belair. Nothing really selected by brand, more by the model if it isn't a Mopar.

Yes - The rag and the hardtop (that was a partial trade on the rag) are LS6 4-speeds.

TruckDriver

First time I looked at this post. But I like a little of everything made by the big three. I grew up with Chevy's & Ford's. My only real exception, is I prefer Dodge pickups over anything else. In fact, other then 2 Chevy s10 Blazers (1 was a freebee), I only ever owned Dodge and one Plymouth Trucks.

If i couldnt have a mopar, hmmmm.

There are not a whole lot of Chevy cars, other than the Shoebox's that i would really want, maybe a 70 Chevelle, or a Monte Carlo,  give me a Olds or a Pontiac though, Cutlass, GTO, LeMans, Trans Am, I would love a full size 60's or 70's Pontiac, Ford too, Torino and Gran Torino's, Galaxies, late 60's early 70's Thunderbirds, Mustang, not so much, maybe a 68 Fastback, 71-73 Fastback.

Me and Chevys just dont get along, my sons Monte Carlo hates me.

chargd72

I would love to own a '69 GTO or a '71 Olds 442.    :drool5:

maxwellwedge you're killing me!!! Beautiful cars bro, good for you! I've never ridden in 70 SS454 LS6 much less drive one. I'm sure it'd be a ride to remember. Merry HoHo Alka-Seltzer!

I love those old cars. I bought one back around 73 or 74. Paid $60 for it and took it the next day and put a $70 exhaust system under it. The car had been sitting for a few years but we put a battery in it and once it got fuel it started right up. Had a ton of fun in that one.

Spoiler II or Talladega would be my first choice.  But I'd really like a SC/Rambler, AMX or Javelin.  Maybe a rebel machine.  (I guess those are sorta mopar now.)  S3 malibu shovel nose, bubble back Grand Prix or Monte Carlo.  68-69 Hurst Olds, 70 Buick GSX.  Boss Mustang.  Hell, I ain't that particular if it's not a MoPar.  How about an Avanti?  Old Studebaker a hopped-up Hemi.  I had a Sunbeam Tiger, that was fun when it wasn't overheating.

Second to Mopars I like a 67 Pontiac GTO or maybe a 68 Mustang Fastback

I would love a Rambler Scrambler as well....hard to find a nice one - they were rode hard and put away wet!
