I think the natural finish of the housing looks good, however I painted my aluminum WP housing street hemi orange.

I considered black like my block, but with all the rest of the goodies up front it would be nice if someone on the forum can do it  :shruggy:

Hey FLG!
How'd the rest of your trim work out? Were you and Brian able to get it done?
I'm no pro for sure but I'd be happy to give your WP a shot.........just to see if I could polish it. No money involved except shipping to and from Calijokeia. Mine is painted hemi orange too but your point is valid with regard to your other "dress up" items. I think I could get most of the body polished but the nooks and crannies not so much. Cheers

Tom

PM me a picture of it if you have time.

Frank, be careful when polishing an aluminum water pump.
I bought one unpolished (rough cast aluminum), then proceeded to smooth it out (sanded it, etc), polished it up nice, looked real good. Pump started leaking almost immediately after installing it.
Either 1) It was a bad pump to begin with, or 2) Aluminum shavings, sand grit, heat, etc destroyed the pump shaft seal. That's where the leak was.

So, I bought one from Edelbrock already polished. No problems at all.

Meant to say wp housing..never the less I apprechiate the offer Tom...but I'm gonna just paint the damn thing black, because it will first have to be sanded smooth and will take many hours. Don't sweat it, I got it for free thanks to jeff so might as well save my cash and just leave it painted.

Got a aluminum wp though as well bill, gonna leave it as it is...(thanks for jeff as well lool)

I've found that with polished raw aluminum engine parts, they tend to "Whiten" if not constantlyrepolished to keep tht luster...

Chrome is enouh ofa PITA to keep polished n clean IMO...

Hence the need for anodizing.

I like polishing aluminum.  When I bought my 'cuda, Larry offered to keep the Hopsters' & put a new set of Rallys on it & I couldn't say no fast enuf.  This summer alone I think I polished them about 10 times.  I'll pull them all off again this spring to get the inside of the wheels good & shiney.

Stand up offer by Tom.  I imagine a dremmel would help but that would be some tough polishing down in some of the holes' as well for any sanding that might be needed.

Hey gang, Happy Holidays!

For me its paying it forward. We all have skills and I'm happy to help any member here if I can. That's the beauty of this forum. The very best thing about DC.com is the membership. The worst thing is that I can't meet all of you.
