I found these on you tube, they show the filming locations of the movie and show how the places looked in 1973 and in 2010. The guy drives down the same roads and has messages in the video with information about the film location. You may have seen this already but if not, here is part 1 of 2

That was so interesting thanks I loved it. I wonder how you knew where all those locations were. That must have taken some research. I forgot how sexy the girl was but I was real young.

Your welcome, when I saw it I had to share it, someone went through a lot of time to do that. I took the charger to Bills and parked in the back and the bartender went out bak to look when a guy came in and told him what just drove up and parked. that was in 1977. I still have the 6 ft antennae off the charger and the picture of it screaming around the corner in the grove past the 2 field workers. I think i mentioned that in another thread topic. That train engine is still running and for sale according to the youtube movie, who here has the clone charger ? maybe have them go there and take a picture with the locomotive ????

Can someone please post a screen grab of the charger as it rounds the corner in the walnut grove when they pass the 2 farm workers parked next to the road in their pickup truck. The picture should show a 6 foot  stainless steel antennae on the front right fender that is only shown on the car in that one scene only. I still have that antennae and I thought i still had 1 of the charger roof emblems and 1 of the R/T emblems i kept off the car, I am still looking through all of my saved things.

This movie never gets old, I at least watch it once a month. I noticed it looks as though the 68 charger doesn't have the black stripe in the scene were they are next to the cop car? :shruggy: I would love to see the old sights thanks for sharing!

Thanks Tan Top for posting those. I was looking at the movie at home awhile back and freeze framed this scence because my eye caught something that was the long antennae. You will never see that anntenae in any other scene, Only this one. When I got the car there were a few things in the trunk that had to do with the filming and the antennae was one of them. I held onto that antennae all these years putting it on a couple of other vehicles I had when CB radios were popular back in the 70's. I had completly forgotton where I got it and when I saw this scence in freeze frame, it all came back to me with a hard realization of where I came to own it. Although I don't have the car I still have a "piece " of it that was in the movie. I have watched the movie so many times and never paused it on that scene until the day i discovered the antennae on the car. I think I still have a charger roof emblem and an R/T emblem tucked away somewhere and i am still looking. I wanted to share this bit of information with the members here.

Thanks Tan Top, it was running good and we were just married for 11 months when her big ego allowed her to be a cheating, theiving so & so and i told her to leave with her boyfriend and never come back, confiscated all the credit cards, changed the ones I needed, removed her from them and cancelled the others. I found out since I was now getting ALL the mail that she did not pay most of the credit card bills or maybe 5 or ten dollars on a  $75. minimum and throwing away all the letters the CC companies were sending. She did this for about 5 months.  i tool a loan to pay all off but found out she started charging up a storm from all over 2 states for maternity clothes and suits for HIM so he could convince her he would actually look for work, long story short, my mental frame of mind caused me to just drive the still wrecked charger to a dealership ( a FORD dealership of all things) and gave it to them just to save me the hassle of having to find a place to park the now 2nd vehicle and trying to sell a wrecked car. Sorry for this rant that just happened right before my eyes but I lost that car because of what she put me through, THE HELL I SHOULD SAY :icon_smile_angry: :icon_smile_dissapprove: and i never told the dealership where I got it. The ins. co. could not help me that far back. she never even showed up for the court date to divorce or anull ( 11 months) we were together for 4 years right out of high school before that. goes to show how much you don't know someone. That was in 1979 her then boyfriend got her pregnant with 1 or 2 kids then dumped her in some town away from anyone she knew with 1 or 2 kids  less than 2 years after me, and found out the guy did that to 2 other women.  serves her right :nana: :2thumbs:now she has 5 kids from 3 different guys and I moved to a new state 7 years ago and a friend of mine from highschool sent me a creepy email letting me know that she ( aka charger killer) moved to this state as well and is just 40 miles from me.I develope a little more hatred for her each time i think of my poor charger who was the victim of her ego and my idiotic thinking in letting that car slip away. Geez this just came over me as i typed this out, sorry about that but i sure do miss that  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :rotz: :rotz:Charger

Now if you just had an old registration or proof of insurance with the VIN on it...

Ghoste, How right you are about that. I am trying to double check with my ins. co to see what they can do. I would love to be able to locate all of my former vehicles. I had a 68 charger in high school and one day sold it & bought a 72 firebird because my soon to be wife, soon to be EX wife talked me into it because her cousin was a used car salesman but i soon got tired of the firebird and bought my 73 mustang MACH 1. ( the ex wife actuall caused me to lose 2 CHARGERS thinking about the 68 & her wrecking my 69  :brickwall: :brickwall: :RantExplode:) ANYWAY, one day in San Francisco i was working as a route driver and I crossed market street and half way down the block I spotted what looked like my hemi orange 68 charger and it was it ( license plate) and  parked BEHIND IT  bumpers almost touching was my old 72 firebird ( license plate also ) I was shocked to say the least and then the red light turned green and i had to move along. With all the one way streets, it took me almost 10 minutes to circle the block and the firebird was just leaving. What are the odds of that happening again ?

How's this for dragging up an oldie topic?

Just joined today and wanted to say the original post was referencing my May 2010 business trip to San Francisco and my personal side-trip to visit all the DMCL locations I was able to research. I made that trip on 2 days notice, so I only got about half the shots I could have gotten had the trip been a month later, after I'd completed my location research. But the videos were a blast to edit together, and I got very lucky on a couple of the spots I found completely by dumb luck. Example- Mary's apartment was under a sign that said 'Fairview Apartments'. I searched the Sonora, CA area for that name but found nothing...except a dead-end street named Fairview St. So I used Google Earth to find that street, zoomed down th street level and advanced from one end of the street to the next....finding nothing. Then I repeated the process, this time rotating my view 360-degrees at ever step, and looking up a long driveway, I spotted the front door and window of Mary's room! When I got out there, I turned onto that street, into the driveway and parked my rented black 2010 Charger right were Deke parked the Impala 36 years earlier. It was an awesome rush.

Every other spot I visited repeated that rush... especially when I drove up the driveway of the pool hall, and parked in front of the general store. Another big blast was racing down the winding canyon where the BULLITT chase ended driving that rented black Charger. Just fast enough to get the tires squealing here and there, while keeping the eyes peeled for local PD. It was a GREAT two days I'll never forget. Just wish I'd had a cohort to scare the heck out of!

I plan to do the trip again as soon as I'm able (I live in New Jersey, so it's a HAUL!) as I have twice as many locations nailed down now and want to shoot them all.

Just for giggles, here another DMCL video I did last year- this time an attempt to create a modern variation of the film's trailer. It's a bit rough, but it's still fun.

Here's an old old old thread of mine discussing many of the filming locations including the Fairview Motor apartments... might have saved you some time?

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,11746.0.html

We're still looking for "NO FISHING FROM BRIDGE" location. I scoured satellite maps of the filming area for hours looking for that bridge with no luck. I came to the conclusion they've since updated the bridge.

Nice, yes that looks like it. I searched around quite a bit, but not that far out.
