Near Salem just before noon yesterday a rare Oregon tornado touched down in the little town of Aumsville, Oregon and created some havoc for the owners of 50 homes and businesses. I know this is probably a joke compared to what those in Tornado Alley are used to dealing with but we're not used to this type of thing. I remember a few years ago while watching an OSU Beavers football game in Corvallis I saw a funnel cloud near the stadium. I wasn't quite sure it actually was a funnel cloud until they talked about it on the news later that night but I did point it out to my buddy and told him I thought it looked like a tornado. Not sure if this is always the case but of the three tornadoes I've heard of in the Portland/Vancouver area in the past few years, all three happened in late fall and winter.

we've had a couple "funnel clouds" up here in the Tacoma area.....news really blew it out of proportion...claiming that they were full fledged tornadoes...

I seen the destruction of the Oregon one on TV...nasty little bugger
