We have actually discussed adding an axle or just removing the toolbox.  Fortunately the trucks a Hemi and it was only a 20 min drive.
Check out my full thread and progress here.

A Hemi, yes. Designed to tow that much, no. I know that you were doing what you had to do but there is no difference between a 20 minute trip and a 2000 mile trip. It only takes a second for things to go south.

I thought I would repost this. My 4x4 is in there.

here's my truck, its a 06 4x4 with cummins motor. I installed a lift in my shop and used my truck as the test vehicle, figured if it can lift this it will lift the charger with no problem.
also, i put a sterling grille on it. sterling and dodge at one time had a joint venture together to make heavy duty trucks. i think that fell through, but i like the grille. and it made it different than all the other rams out there.
i included a chot of the charger on the lift. i know the post looks like its leaning but its the angel of the pic. wierd

Went plinkin in the wash recently. Those cans and bottles never had a chance  :D

The way I like y trucks - plain-jane simplicity with a big engine and a sure grip axle: 2005 1500, Hemi, Sure-grip, Overload-air bags, Trailer Package, Rubber Floor Mats, and hand crank winders. The chrome wheels and tires were new takeoffs found on Craigslist from a little newer Durango.

Wow. Only took me 4 years to notice this thread. Here is My '01 Ram 2500. Special ordered in Jan of '00 and delivered in Mar, as they could not find the one that I wanted. Not often that you buy a vehicle that has your name on the window sticker. Here she is. Still looks like new as I keep her covered with a custom sized "tent" to keep the sun off when not in use LOL.  Some nice Dodge trucks out there folks. Thanks for sharing.

I miss my 87 W150 Power Ram. 318/727, with an old used Plow.  Wish I took better care of it, it literally rotted before my eyes. Still got 1K for it as it sits last year! It plowed just fine, just not very road legal anymore.  We towed my brother in laws Maverick all the way from Long Island, NY which was a miracle in itself.

I have always wanted a few different dodge trucks, one being a mid 50's power wagon, one being a early 70's power wagon with a 440 and then a 1987 (year I was born) w150 with a 360/727 reg cab short box

this is what I wanted to do with the mid 70's or the 1987 if I ever found one solid enough : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDg6Y8KpzUs

If you have never towed anything before, find someone who has and learn.  Oh shit happens in 1 second.

twodko

Gorgeous truck, congrats! Def what ACUDANUT said.
FLY NAVY/Marine Corps or take the bus!

Ive got my tuitor already set to give me
all the help he can and then some, but
I appreciate the heads up.
Ive seen him stick a 28 footer into a single
lane driveway from a pretty narrow road.
I definitly trust him to let me know what
I should and should not be attempting.
wingless now, but still around.

That's no joke!  You will learn a lot about your truck when towing! Hopefully not learn the hard way!
