Well my 68 RT  4 speed is in storage, I just went over my expenses for the year and found out my gas was the most!  I put 1700 miles on her and my gas bills totaled $710.00 its easy to keep track, that's the only time I use super,  7.2 miles a gallon, thats about a dollar for every thumbs up, or for every person who stops and says hi, or all the cops heads that you turn, but still havn't been flashed ( thats another topic) can't wait for next year!

PocketThunder

At $3 a gallon my math puts you at 7.2 mpg.?..??   :shruggy:

Yes your right, no wonder I have 5 bucks left!

my 440 gets 6 mpg. and i love driving it in boulder. where every tree hugger drives a prius. i thank them for leaving more gas to burn. lol.  dont care about the mileage. it is worth every penny just to drive my charger. it cost me around 30 bucks to go for a drive.  money well spent.

Although the Chargers actual mileage may be a lot less than other cars around our place, the payback in enjoyment per mile is so much larger that it negates the other.

I was tracking mine for a while....never really "filled up" this year except in October....

These cars are not about the MPG.  :slap: So, who cares  :icon_smile_big:

I'm usually in a hurry getting the kids wherever they need to go....plus idling at drive thru's :icon_smile_wink:

thats what i say.  i dont care about the mileage. my car has two big four barrel carbs and big pistons . so was built for poor mileage.  but not a daily driver anyway.  i will post pictures  of my charger when i figure out how to. not a computer guy. so takes me a while.  to the guy who went to boulder high where do you live now.

TUFCAT

Sorry for Hi-Jack :'(  It's about muscle cars ....unable to delete.

RallyeMike

I actually get a little under 8MPG averaging 135mph. I have never calculated regular driving, but off-hand it's about the same.

My 73  averages about 14 mpg. Slightly better than my 04 Ram. I have an OD trans and live in the country, so alot of road miles help.

An MPG thread.

I got around 9 with a hacked carb and broke converter. With all that sorted now I expect it to go down.

My 67 Charger gets around 17-18 and around 12 in the city.  That is a 383 4bbl with 2.94 rear.
My 99 Ram, 1500 gets about the same and that is with a 360 and OD.
My wife gets around 30-32 with her 03 Stratus R/T with a 3.0.

FlatbackFanatic

I get between 12-14 mpg, with a tired 440 auto with 2.94 rear. I know that once I get the engine rebuilt that the mpg will get worse, but thats OK with me.

Very surprised my 500 stroker got around 15 going 65/70 coming home from the Hot Rod Power Tour.  :2thumbs:  The 5 speed helped a lot!

I don't worry about gas mileage with my 71 RT

doctor4766

Meh, who cares how many miles you can get?
It's not like most of us drive them every day anyway so mileage often isn't an issue.

My daily driver HiLux however is a different story.
I get real pissed off if I don't make 400km per tank.
That uses more than the LS1 ute I traded in for it.
Gotta love a '69

My 71 Superbee is way to much fun to drive to worry about gas mileage.

no idea. not very good i bet. 4-6 mpg? I just keep it full all the time...950 double pumper and a lead foot.

Mine gets around 5 mpg 440, 11.5 comp, auto,355sure grip. It hurts to buy it but it is fun to burn it.

G-man

My 68 Charger runs about 22mpg. 383ci, 727 on the column, 4 barrel vacuum secondary carburettor.

Thank You Allen!  :icon_smile_big:

'69 R/T.  440/727, 3.23 gears, 110,000 miles, 9mpg.

Lifsgrt

I was curious last year with my previous build that ran 12.47 in the quarter.  I drove a steady 70 mph (using my GPS...speedo is inaccurate of course), auto with 3:23 gears, and returned 13.3 mpg.  I thought that was pretty good.  Upgraded to a 493 stroker a while back, still tuning so don't know.  It chugs fuel like it's going out of style at the dragstrip, but what a ride!!!!   :2thumbs:

I have a 73 Dodge truck and have to fill it up every 90 miles...No BS

ChgrSteve67

I have a 383 4bbl with a 5 speed and 3.55 gears.

I get 17 on the highway without my trailier and 14 with.
In town I probably get about 10-12 launching from signal lights.

Wicked72

I plan on gallons to the mile so that way I am not surprised.... :smilielol:

Psh.  I probably get 10-12 miles FREEWAY...

elanmars

doing a little bit better with the gear change (the other ones were starting to grind), about 14-16 with a 383. still needs some carb work/carb change though.

Well, when I got the car, it had been changed from a 318 car to a 440, still has a 2.76 rear end.  So, I got 22 MPG on the highway and about 8 to 10 MPG around town.

I have not driven it since I built a new 440 for it, but I am guessing it will be a bit less than before, maybe 18 highway and 5 in the city (I tend to rev it up and goose it at every light, what can I say, I love the way it sounds and drives!).

     I'm not sure.

I don't even have a carburetor. Just a monkey with a bucket. He sits on top of the engine and dumps gasoline into it.  :rotz:

Yea I use to run a Holley myself.

472 R/T SE

I can't even remember for sure with my purple car.  I know if I keep it at 55-60mph to run with my friends it gets worse mileage than doing 65-70mph w/ 3:55 & GV.  It seems to struggle @ 55-60mph, much smoother up in the power band, duh.

I'm not sure what gears are in the 340 'cuda but @ 70mph it's 13-15 smiles per gallon.

Mine too, Smile per mile is more important.  But i figured i get 9-12 depending on how i drive.  The big rear tires and stock highway gears probably help a bit too.  I have never owned a econo box though, so i would probably faint if i ever got anything over 12 mpg
