70 HEMI Charger

This guy said Galen spent about 4 hours looking over the car. Its not that I do not believe it's real. Without the fender tag and build sheet, it's hard to buy it. It's driving me crazy.

If it's a real "R" code, what's the problem? The VIN and the body stampings will verify this. Now, verifying the original color, tranny , etc is another story. But, to forego an original "R" '70 Charger R/T because of this is, well... I would put more thought into it... There aren't that many '70 Hemi Chargers floating around let alone ever built.... If you can get this car at a good price, you had better think some more....  Who knows, the original owner could find it the next day....

Build sheet is just a cherry on your sundae.
The fender tag missing is a bummer but if the vin#, engine# and body stampings match its worth making an offer.

Well, this guy just bought the car a few months ago and is turning it over. If he is selling it at 49, no doubt he bought it for less than that. Why such a low price? And why would he buy it without the fender tag and build sheet? Why would the first seller not find the fender tag or BS, if he said he had it, especially on such a special car? It really wouldnt be that hard to have a vin tag fabricated, restamp a block, and the body.

If he bought the car a few months ago, I highly doubt GG looked at it.
I mean it takes over a year just to respond to an email.

If you really know what to look for calling out a fake is not that hard to do. from the pictures posted it doesn't look that bad, then again it's just pictures

Me personally if the price condition reflects the price, and in this case I think it does. and would warrent a look see if your in the market to buy. $49K for a 1970 Hemi Charger with it's supposed matching #'s drivetrain intact and in a good color combo as a decent starting point is not that bad.
With a fair amount of research and investigative work figuring out the primary codes found on a tag is a reasonable possibillity.

On the other hand buying one without said tag or sheet. I personally  would not do, unless it was dirt cheap and in this case it is not

After looking at the car.. .Lordy !!!!  With the car being decoded by Galen already and him having made the documentation in the first place, he could make a replacement tag. You have everything you need there. Like Bill mentioned, verifying the Hemi-specific body parts isn't difficult. It looks almost ready to rock-n-roll !!!!  If I had $49K, I'd be buying it tomorrow.......... Shoot, it's a factory luggage rack car too... I have one of those nice-little puppies sitting in my garage...

April 15th SPD with that VIN number?  Surprised the Guru didn't pick up on that.....Doesn't look right to me.....Anyone else have a later St. Louis built 70?

Really? - I would have thought they would be in the 3's or 4's by April....unless St. Louis was like LA built stuff and had low-ish VIN's....Do you have a one or two near that date?

Since '70 Chargers were only built in St. Louis and on one line, the numbers never exceeded 260000. I know with 69's getting built in Hamtramck with high VIN's, it sometimes gets a little confusing.

At this point, we (The Registry) can pretty much tell anyone the exact date their car was built on from the VIN. 

As far as the car, not sure of all the in's and out's of it, but if that's a legit Hemi EV2 with white, it's a super cool color combo and for that price should not last long...if legit.

Thanks for that! Mine was built 912 (121102) so I didn't have any later ones to go by.

If the car is legit it is definitely a great combo!

Right now we have 20 Chargers built on 912...your's being the only Hemi.

Ehh...what does it really matter. Just say it is real then that makes it fact. There are other supposedly rare cars out there that dont have any documentation but they lay claim to being legit anyways. 

I dont agree with it but that seems the way this hobby is going.

We'll I'm wrong on the IBM cards. I said 1967 was the end date, based on numerous sources, the most oft sited being allpar. So there it is. a 1970 St. Louis IBM card. Sorry.

That fuel line is one sweet custom set up.
