Why is Saturday Night Live Still Unwatchable?

Yes, I gave it another try & was not disappointed.  ::)

I was flipping channels just now & saw on my preview guide that SNL was on. I figured I'd put it on & see if it was any better than the last time I saw it, which I think was with Dana Carvey. It's still unwatchable after all these years. I'll admit that there were some funny skits on the show at one time or another, but 6 or 7 minutes of funny out of 90 minutes makes for a bad ratio. I could never sit through a whole show, even when the original "Not Ready For Prime Time Players" were on it.

Reruns of Sanford & Son are waaay better.

And Phil Hartman won't be back too soon.  :'(  Caveman Lawyer was brilliant, then GEICO stole the concept. :icon_smile_dissapprove:

Cirroc: "When I see a solar eclipse, like the one I went to last year in Hawaii, I think 'Oh no! Is the moon eating the sun?' I don't know. Because I'm a caveman -- that's the way I think."

Why is Saturday Night Live Still Unwatchable? The great writers have so many outlets today: movies, internet, books, cable tv, stand-up. SNL had its pick of great writers for decades and now it's so competitive and diluted at the same time, the show is just mediocre. Look at Stewart and Colbert. They pretty much kill it every night, and then SNL can hardly deliver once a month.  :Twocents:

35 years ago the humor and concept were cutting edge and completely irreverent.  But times changed and we became desensitized.  It's now the equivalent to a 70's variety show.

Not to say it hasn't had some bright spots since the not ready for prime time players.
