I just bought a 72 charger 318 auto very clean, no rust but its been sitting for 10 years, gas tank varnished and old owner would rather use forklift to move instead of batt replacement(crushed exhaust, poked hole in gas tank) how do you get filler nozzle out of tank? Are there replacement vapor lines you can buy or do you have to jury rig gas lines. Also radiator is shot, bought stock replacement 17" wide mine is 26" wide there are no existing brackets,  I cant find in auto parts store rads of this size, is it junkyard time or does somebody make the larger replacement radiators, or shrouds and supports for smaller radiator, cost being main factor. As you can see I'm a lost ford guy  looking for help. thanks Dave

Dave, Hello and welcome to the site and the world of Chargers.

Your 72 sounds like a great project and there are several vendors who will be able to help you out.  Some parts are even on eBay, your local parts store  ( radiator) check with advance and auto zone. I bought a rad a few years back from the local rad shop ( perfect replacement). Shroud I got from year one I think.    And of course, the great classified ads on this forum and list of vendors  should get you started.

As far as the vapor lines, I think Yearone.com of Finelines may have something to help. Where are you located?  Some guys here may have servicable parts you can get from them on the cheap to help get you back on the road.

Good luck and Godspeed,
JON

HI Dave, Welcome, when I replaced my tank in my 72, I was able to work the filler nozzle out of the tank no problem.
There are aftermarket companies for the radiator if your car came with a "26" then I would replace it with a 26 I wouldnt
Go smaller.

Welcome
I have a 72/318. Surprised you have the larger radiator in a 318 car. Plenty of places you can find a new radiator.
The filler tube is attached to the tank with a larger rubber grommet, nothing else. Will take a little work to disconnect.
The 4 vapor lines coming out of the front of the tank should be rubber. If they're original they will have the factory clamps on the ends. just replace them with some new rubber fuel lines and some regular hose clamps, unless your going for 100% stock look.

Welcome Dave. Check out Napa for your 26" radiator if you want stock look, local Dodge dealer or eBay for your shroud and these guys on eBay for your tank. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130459812335&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
You should have 1 bolt/bracket that holds the filler tube to the back panel behind your tag. Remove it, lines and straps and pull filler tube with tank removed.

Thanks all, I just ordered larger radiator through NAPA figuring if engine upgrade fever strikes Ill be a little ahead of game. dropped gas tank in 1 hour--not used to AZ rust free fastners was figuring I'd have to sawzall or grind tank holders but could still see paint on threads! Any of you st loo or st chuckles MO members can point me to a good paint shop for touchup I'd appreciate it, thanks again for your help! Dave

500.00 for radiator 1st one arrived in pieces so I'm now back in wait mode til Wednesday(supposed to be 15-20 degrees so wouldn't be able to do much anyway) starting on dash reassembly--loads of fun when you just have a pile of parts most of which you know didnt come off this car. speedo shows 65000 mi. old title  115000 and the guy two owners ago said all 3 cars he sold had 150 speedos and nothing with a bench seat(what I ended up with). It came with 2 hvac controllers one with ac the other without, anybody need a non ac controller?
