That was going to be my question as well.  I am guessing I am one of the few on here who does not have a video game system, but have been thinking about getting one.

Thanks for posting the pictures.  They have come a long way since pong.

The first batch of pictures I posted were from Gran Turismo 5's Photo Mode, where you put your car in scenic locations and just droll over the beauty of it.

The second set was from the replay of me messing around at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I don't know how to really show you what the cars look like in real time, I guess the best way is to direct you to a youtube video.

Here is a really good driver with terrible recording equipment, but it still shows how good the cars look in game.

Yes you can, but it is a little tricky.

The paint editor only lets you use colors from cars you have previously bought, so in order to have the yellow you are looking for, you would have to buy the 1970 challenger in that color, and then use the challengers paint to paint the charger. But you only get one "paint chip" so you have to use them wisely (I used my chrome color on the Shelby).

I'm in the same boat.  I'm old enough to have played Atari, but young enough to where all of my friends had video game systems of some sort.  I never have, but this game just looks incredible.  Of course, I'd have to get a steering wheel, pedals, and a shifter to complete the experience...

Can that be had for 360?

Unfortunely NO.

He does get forza to play with though (69 Charger R/T, 69 Daytona, 66 Barracuda).

Here are the Superbird and Cuda, still have not found the 71 charger yet.

As you can probably tell, these are both standard cars

Very cool stuff in those videos....i remember "back in the day" when getting lighting & shadows "correct" was a HUGE deal for these types of games.

Nice, I had the Intellivision unit myself.  I believe my parents bought it for us back in 82' ish.

Since we are on the topic, which is the better unit 360 or PS3?

Well the X Box 360 is cheaper (initially 199 for the 4GB), however in order to actually save any content on the xbox you will have to upgrade to the 250GB Model (299.99). X Box will play standard DVDs, and has wireless internet (new ones only), but you pay around 50 dollars a year to play on-line.

The PS3 comes standard with 160GB memory (299.99), the PS3 also includes a blue-ray player, wireless internet, and free PSN account (to play games on-line)

The X Box also has Kenect (allows you to play without controllers), while the PS3 just released a remote similar to the wii.

In short, both are good systems its just your personal preference.

Also, congrads on your 1500th post!

Sabre

I bought a PS3 on Black Friday.  Haven't opened yet as it's a X-Mas gift.  It's the Holiday Bundle $299.99 and it came with all three God of War games for free.  I'll be getting Gran Turismo 5 for Christmas.

My only beef with GT5 is the fact you can't paint your car anyway you want, and as I understand performance mods are also limited.  I have Forza 3 and have numerous custom paint schemes for my MOPARS, the only downside to Forza 3 is that they lack tracks.  Basically Forza 3 has the same tracks as Forza 2 had but added different versions of them and maybe two or three new tracks.  Not enough though, looking forward to GT5.

As for those who want other cars in the game there will be future downloadable car packs for GT5, so maybe a 69 or 68 will be coming.

TruckDriver

What made me sick of Forza three, it is a import based game with a hand full of American cars (Audi pumps tons of money into the game). My oldest son is still into the game though, and said they are releasing a new car pack now with a crap load of muscle cars including a '71 AMC AMX, Pantara, a Elcamino a '71 Barracuda, and a few others. The other thing I hated about the game is the few oval tracks in it.

I pre-orders this game months before it came out and so far it has disappointed me. I bought prologue and the interiors of the cars were much better than the premiums in GT5. Kaz, the creator, said he didn't want to rush the game and it was delayed a couple years and it still feels like a rushed game. The lighting at night is terrible and there is screen tearing. Hopefully this will be fixed in future updates. Also there are premium and standard versions of the same car such as the R32 Skyline, if they made one premium it should be too hard to make them all, again this should be fixed in future updates. Also, the graphics for the standard cars flat out suck, its like they went back to GT2 for them, GT4 was superior in that respect. Finally, when you are racing, the AI punts you off of the track and you get disqualified but if you so much as tap them you are disqualified.
